The anniversary models are lovely yes. Disappointed with the power?

No i think not!. My 2015 4/4 has clocked up 2500 miles now and is plenty fast enough. The car is light which really is a bonus when it comes to handling and its performance is not far behind the plus 4 as a result. Its great fun to drive and a superb drivers cars - i traded my M3W for it as funds would not allow both and don't regret it at all.

Go try one - you'll love it.

My trouble would be which colour to pick - the saxe blue looks better in the flesh than in pics to me, but the 2 tone green is lovely too, but so is the red! oh choices.....

I love my 4/4 sport - all I need zippy, fun, capable of track work, cruises for ever, cheap tax & insurance and currently 48mpg.

I forgot to mention that that there has been a massive difference once mine got past 3000 miles and loosened up. At over 13,000 miles it just keeps getting better.

The consistent advice offered here of "try both" is very good advice.

I would offer one further piece. Do you like to personalise, tune and modify your cars, particularly the engine?

The 1.6 Sigma has a well-proven and well-supported upgrade path including throttle bodies, and freer flowing manifolds and cats ets.

The 2.0 I-4 GDI engine has direct cylinder head injection & ultra-high compression, which will make induction modifications all but impossible, and without these any post-manifold tuning is just vanity stuff.

in short, one engine can trace its lineage back to half of a Yamaha-designed race engine, the other was designed to get a medium-sized hatchback to 40mpg with low CO2 at less production cost a than a turbocharged powerplant. Both very clever engines, one designed by racers and the other by beancounters

Must be the lack of door pockets that gives you more room.

Ha Ha. Seriously, though both cars use the MX5 gearbox, it may be mounted further forward with the smaller engine, allowing the trans tunnel to be a tad narrower. Jays would know how they look on the production line, but I imagine he's having too much fun in Spain & Portugal to read this.
