hey Frank aren't you mended yet? Finally got the car back late today with new sump guard fitted, new engine mountings and nice Peter Mulberry Flat Bottom Sump. Hoping there are no hidden probs. Can't waist to put some miles on now.

Good to hear you are back on the road Frank. I am waiting for further research by Dave W on the sump issue, it is seriously too low for comfort.

But fitting the Factory Toneau has similar features requiring a good fight and is fun (I mean easier) when SWMBO hanging onto the opposite side. I can't believe that I said this! When I wrote it, I was thinking of the 4/4 'Lellow Car' experiences. Yesterday was another story as I spent half an hour fighting with the UNTRIED Toneau on the Centenary Roadster 100. What with my aching & hurting Thumb Joints, I eventually gave up. The B****y thing just will not fit across the width. It is too small by an absolute minimum of about 4cm and it will have to go back! Being fundamentally a Tailor by training, I can see clearly that someone at the factory has fouled up with the Pattern Making so I guess none of them fit? I was at a Classic event yesterday (24th) where there were two Morgans with the old type and the fit was nice and 'Easy' as were those on some of the more vintage other cars. It is obvious that they do not trial fit these before delivery or they would have found this out (a bit like the Luggage Rack that took them 3 goes to supply the right one). Thanks for comments on the Sump Fix. I have tried to take some pic which I will post in a new thread. I am hoping that someone has a photo of the damaged sump before sending it away.

Allon Whites have a trim shop and do bespoke tonneaux, rather than off-the-peg, they made a half tonneau for my 4/4 Sport in black Everflex for a very reasonable £150, complete with cut-outs so the seat belts don't tangle. The fit is spot on, if you look carefully you can see the remains of White Square tailors chalk where the press studs and turn button holes were carefully marked after first try-on. Frank - I think MMC have used the regular block for your tonneau when they should have used the 'portly'

Frank The full tonneau cover which came with my (S/H)Roadster had not been fitted with fasteners, and none came with the car. So I had to source them and fit myself. The essential tool for doing this is the 'hollow belt punch'. The material is just big enough, but only just. The trouble with the full tonneau cover is that unless you roll it very carefully behind the seats it will stop the belts retracting. I doubt that I'll use mine again. Never say never though.

I tried the tonneau on my plus 4 for the first time today -- well, the first bit went OK and the "Lift a dot" bits on the front went on and it tensioned down when I latched down the back. I thought "This is no bother" ---then the fun started. Some of the poppers are in the right place, but all those from the rear of the door back are way out of line, and one of the door ones is about 3in out!! no way can they fit. I'll be going back to the dealer shortly and will see what can be done as I'd hoped just to use the tonneau in France for the Classic Le Mans. We'll see what transpires!!

Frank The trouble with the full tonneau cover is that unless you roll it very carefully behind the seats it will stop the belts retracting. It is not just the tonneau that stops the seat-belt retracting. The seat-belt guide as fitted to my seats was set too low so that the friction between the seat-back and the seat-belt prevented the belt from retracting freely. I lifted the belt guide as shown below: With this modification and folding the tonneau in on itself as below the belt retracts without a problem. The photo shows that the tonneau is nowhere near the seat-belt. Personally, I wouldn't be without the full tonneau. Although I have a hood cover, I never use it as the tonneau performs the same function. As I use my car on a daily basis, I leave it all over the place. The tonneau stops leaves and dust getting into the cabin and provides as much security as raising the hood. In the event of a sudden rain shower, although not perfect, it is preferable to leaving the cabin unprotected. As to fitting the tonneau or the hood cover, the first couple of times it's a hell of a struggle if they're mohair. I didn't think mine had been properly fitted to the car but if you persevere and pull hard it should fit, as it would have been fitted to the car at the factory.
