The USAF are always very careful when planning routes for the C17 and C5's as they move a lot of air. I guess the A380 is the same. When you see one in isolation at the airport they don't look so big, then they get next to a normal jet like a 777 and you realise the size of them.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Wasn't this the reason there was a plane crane in NY not long after 9-11. A 737 (or similar) took off after a larger plane...
I do enjoy the AVHearald.

An good article and just a little worrying given the number of A380's now flying. The discussion among professional pilots in the forum below the article illustrates their concern and some of the avoidance measures.
Also, a click on the Antonov AN2 and Robin video further down is worthwhile. It's not just A380s that pose a wake turbulence danger!

I was in a BA 373 flying from Manchester to LHR when we hit wake turbulence from an Emirates A380. It was like hitting a speed bump at speed, then continuing over cobbles ant speed. My coffee went over me, the person next to me and the stewardess serving. Baggage lockers fell open and a few people fell.
Not nice....

Scary that the turbulence was sufficient to write the plane off!
