Not true if you have an NVH kit fitted. Std on 2014 cars on I believe and a few earlier have retro fitted. The NVH lets the BB pivot in line with the output shaft , letting it hit the hole in the bulkhead behind the rear seats with a mighty thump on receiving a big torque input from either the input or output shafts.

My money would be on BB security. Mounting damaged or NVH mounting loose or broken maybe.

Someone did have an NVH BB mount shear.

Am getting a new noise from my car with about 225 miles on it.
It sounds like something scraping at low speeds, I can hear it when driving slowly or coasting sounds like something scraping intermittently like it is scraping once per revolution of something. Not engine related. At times the scrape sounds like a metal on metal screech. Nothing visible in the rear tire compartment. Bevel box?

May have found my odd noise. Pulled the panel covering the bevel box and found a rock stuck between the drive pulley and the bevel box. Pulled the rock out, jacked up the car and rotated the rear wheel. No more noise. Can't fully confirm that this was the problem until I test drive it.

Weather took a turn for the worse, so probably won't get to drive it until Wed.
Taking the time now to dynamat the aluminum panels and seal the cockpit area.

If the rock removal doesn't eliminate the noise, check the belt tension (10mm play in the middle). It can rub on the small stone guard and create a squeaking/raspy noise that cycles with wheel rotation upon coasting or throttle lift.

Thanks, can check that while I have the whole thing apart. Had driven about 200 miles before this noise appeared suddenly yesterday afternoon.

Having reached the point where the noises have been minimized but not entirely removed. Am now at the place where if I don't hear something anymore then it either failed completely or is laying on the road somewhere behind me.

As for the original poster I would add that it could very well be the belt ratcheting, hopping a tooth, while lighting out quickly. I had this happen to me a few times in the early days but I have since stopped it as the belt runs on the looser side as well as the practice eats the rear tire quickly!

Punching it to make a point or win a quick scratch race is all well and good but I have gone through three rear tires and five sets of fronts due to hard aggressive driving. It gets expensive.

What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.
