My favoured 'everyday' drink is a cider, Thatchers or preferably Rattler.
For fizzy pop its Piper-Heidseck and for a spirit Pear Grey goose is the one! Or a Tanquerey 10!!

Most alcohols - though decent ale / scrumpy are top.
Ahh, and Earl Grey - but not in the same glass as the above!

I'm for a malty mellow ale, myself. All the local brewers over this way have gone mad for hops lately, doesn't matter what you order it all tastes like IPA. And on the tea front, it's definitely Earl Grey.

I have peculiar tastes and an even more peculiar digestive system. I was also late to alcohol, probably mid forties. I can't stomach Cider as its just too acidic. I'm no fan of beers either, most seem to be fizzy pop.I was drawn into wine by knowledgeable friends, and wine is what we drink. I don't mind an occasional Guinness. This winter we discovered 'Kings Ginger' from Berry Bros, and this is wonderful with whisky or as a whisky substitute.
I'm not a great whisky drinker, but don't mind an occasional shot.

Dave,
I have been spoilt by my job spending time in Oz & S Africa (I usually stay just outside Stellenbosch). So red wine.

Can any of you gentlemen help?

Having given up alcohol 13 years ago, the two things I miss most are a really refreshing ale and a good white desert wine (weirdly, not what I used to drink at all).

So I think it's time to have the odd bottle - but what to choose? This whole craft beer microbrewery thing didn't really exist last time I bought anything. I do fancy a nice hoppy IPA but not a heavy malty one - something more astringent and citrussy. And nothing too far above 5% abv. Anyone got any tips?

cheers

Eeugh..! Earl Grey.. Watery southern perfumed water to me I'm afraid.. When it comes to tea, I'm a stewed, strong brew with a good shot of semi skimmed. The sort of stuff that you can stand a spoon up in. Years of making one & getting pulled away formed that one I think..!

Coffee's have to be dense but mild, so I'm a latte person. How cosmopolitan am I. eh..?

When it comes to alcofrol, I'm a trad ales sort. There are so many small breweries around with so much choice, I like to take pot luck when I'm out. If I'm wheel man, it'll be the lowest ABV on the pumps and just the one in England, with some serious re-thinking north of the border..!

Spirit wise, I dearly love peaty single malt whisky but I'm willing to try many and varied.

Cider I love...but only one as, like Dave W, it gives me such acid heartburn unless I eat at the same time. Or fall down..

I'm easily pleased I guess, but I love the resurgence of small distilleries and gin joints. So many and so little time..!!!
