H&S are excellent. I have had three race exhausts made by them and their work has been complimented by my engine builder. I have given them quite stringent specs which they were able to meet despite being well beyond what most would use. E.g. Very low included angle for collectors and long primary pipes.
That said - I believe Sifab may have a design for Aero S1/2 exhaust based on his fluid dynamics analysis for a GT Aero from years ago.

I had the Librands system fitted to my car, I must admit I was so very tempted by the side exits but the thought of cutting the running boards was concerning.. and having not been out in an Aero with them and having to "guess" on noise levels factored into my decision. So I went with the Librands as I figured I could always change my mind, it sounds lovely and is pretty loud on open throttle - however I must admit it does get drowned out by wind noise at higher speeds and when its not on cold start it ticks over almost silently, so in that case I do feel it should be a bit noisier...however I love the look of the long Librands pipes at the rear and now I cannot bring myself to get the side exits!

My car appears to have the Librands system with two twin rear exit pipes which as mentioned above looks great. Has anybody considered just reducing the silencers on this system? The current ones seem v.heavy and a little more v8 noise at idle would be nice. I had wondered about trying a Vortex silencer. Has anyone any experience of their product?

In short, no... There are decent gains to be made from a proper exhaust manifold and system on the S1 Aero. But when I say proper, it will be north of £5-6K for an equal length ceramic coated manifold (else it will cook everything in the engine bay)and a proper mandrel bent, correct diameter full exhaust system And then there's the fitting cost.... I did do a lot of work with simulation for some of the planned development work on the Aero GT after the 2006 Britcar 24hr race, but the owner decided to take the car elsewhere For what its worth, we ran circa 380BHP from the 4.6 engine for the 24hr race through the standard manifolds, no cats (we didn't have to worry about emissions) and a 2 1/2 OD exhaust system. We had large(but straight through) silencers and side exit exhausts Simon @ SiFab.co.uk

Hi Aero250, As I previously posted I did away with the two rear silencers and had a stainless pipe made with two tailpipes (similar to librands) at each side, gave a much nicer sound, grunt on start up, quiet burble on tickover and a deep growl on acceleration, not intrusive when on the move at motorway+ speeds.
