Leaving plenty of space to the car in front helps, but the worst ones I've had have launched from a car coming from the opposite direction.

Has anyone had trouble with Morgan paint, in that I had a stone chip that when jet washed peeled the paint back. So it gave the impression that the colour coat was not really bonded to the undercoat. Stone chip is now thumb nail size.

I never jet wash any vehicle, water gets pressure forced into places water shouldn't be and can cause problems. I have seen pressure wash damage to paint and trim many times, it can certainly lift paint as the water under pressure gets under the open edges of chips and scratches. Ian

I use a pressure washer, Karcher, with the lower power nozzle and make sure to keep a decent distance. If I had an area of poor paint I wouldn't use it on that area. The higher power nozzle is a definite no-no. I rarely use it on anything. I use hand held air blower to blow air out of nooks and crannies too. A prize in a Mogmag competition designed for cars. Amazing how much water does get trapped under the wing beading even after towel drying. Relubricating these areas is then needed though.

That's for the quick response.....so it not just me then. I think some Chipex is on the cards. Hopefully it will help.... Its not a cheap option , but better than the horrible sound of stones hitting and denting the bodywork. I have sprayed some anti stonechip in the wheelarches as well as its a delicate area ! Madmax, what is this his product, sounds promising? Go for a well known make of underseal/anti stone chip spray on can as the cheap ones are full of nasty stuff that flies into the atmosphere rather than under the wheel arch , I realised this after the first can ! Thanks. I have a tin of paint on Waxoil, would that be any good? Sounds quality stuff , use it up and if you need any more get the spray version as its very quick and easy !

The Dinitrol can be bought in aerosols making it easier for DIY, no compressor needed. Obviously masking off areas is needed. It cleans off with white spirit.

Stone chip is now thumb nail size. Its difficult and unreliable to get a good paint bond onto aluminium made all the more problematic these days because the EU has banned etch primers that work and forces the use of water based paints. So I wouldnt automnatically blame Morgan. You get the same issues on any ally car or bike.

I know lots of the kit car guys with fibreglass bodies swear by liquid rubber to paint under wheel arches , to stop spider cracks from stones. I used it on my previous Ultima to good effect https://www.powertoolsdirect.com/ronseal...CFQbgGwodyIUEAw
