I expect many of you chaps are avid followers of Project Binky on YouTube, in which case you'll be delighted to learn that episode 15 has just been released. For those of you who don't have a clue what I'm banging on about, it's a series of extremely detailed and rather amusing films being made by an outfit called Bad Obsession Motorsport, documenting their amazing project to install the engine and transmission from a Toyota Celica GT4 into a Mini. If you love watching proper programmes of skilled fabrication and engineering building a sports racing car, this is flipping' brilliant.

- some of the fab. work that they do is above and beyond - but very impressive. The sense of humour on the vids. is a joy. It's also nice to know that great British workmanship still relies on copious amounts of tea and 'thinking '.... James

Top marks for the engineering skill and quality of workmanship, however the sense of humour is not to my taste. Can't wait to watch episode 15 though.

Reminds me of a car that turned up at a local Pistonheads breakfast meet last year. A corsa with a 3 litre Vauxhall turbo in it. There was no room under the bonnet for the turbo so it was pkaced in the boot with a long large diameter tube through the passenger seat area to the engine. A marvellous feat of shoehorning. It sounded amazing, heaps of turbo lag, a beast!

project to install the engine and transmission from a Toyota Celica GT4 into a Mini. Interesting; a friend of mine had a Renault 4 adapted for racing with a small block Chevy V8 and a suitable transmission.

In my days of dirt track speedway, I drove a ford Anglia with a chev straight 8 in it. Didn't fit but it didn't matter, safety was just another word. As long as there was a chain slung under the motor, and the roll cage was sound you could run anything you liked. Rear wheels were two 6 inch rims welded together, tyres fitted and then a liquid rubber worked between the tyres until it set, hey presto 14" fats on the back. Radiator sat behind the driver near the rear window. No glass anywhere in the car.

Watched episode 17 last night, they spent the entire episode fabricating the innards of the HVAC unit. Wonderful stuff.

I was impressed by Andrew Burtons Peugeot-Cosworth rally car, awesome bit of kit to see and hear thundering through the forests and all built in a potato shed near Hereford.
It seriously embarrassed some works teams so the MSA decided to ban it!
