Simon, my local dealer is Lifes Motors in Southport.

TBH, I didn't like the quote they've given me already for the 5000mles service(750GBP) scared
I've also heard that on the S3, the oil filter can be changed without taking the wings off...
I get pretty paranoid with dealer servicing, I rather change the oil&filter myself, use only one of the best oil around(Silkolene ProS), and leave the difficult jobs to the dealer...

Yes, first oil ever. And can you really see the oil filter from underneath? Is it easy to get at? Can you take a pic?

Hi Aerofrog

Why did you want a COLD oil check, it is usual to check with the engine hot after standing for a few minutes on level ground.

I checked the oil level as Michael said !
The oil level was 6 mm above the maximum on the dipstick.
To go back to a normal oil level I had to remove 0.8 litre of oil. confused2
To be clear (what is few minutes) and get a precise control of this it will better to know when cold.

I've had my S3 up on the ramp, the photo clearly shown that the oil filter is directly underneath the engine, just in front of the gearbox, which leads me to think why the wings has to come off at every service, seems like an excuse to make money, not to mention potential scratches to the wings/paintwork(providing they really take the wings off smirk2 )
May be someone could explain to me the purpose of taking the wings off, other than engine parts replacement confused2
