I would be wondering about all the M3W owners who are not members of TM who are driving around with possibly cracked Chassis and are not aware.

Crack repair requires good knowledge of exactly how the stresses are causing the cracks, welding process, and reinforcement needed to strengthen the cracked member/joint. Yes, if not properly addressed, the crack will return, usually along side the weld. One must consider the direction of the principle stress, stress risers, joint prep for welding, heat affected zone, and fatigue stress, to name a few. I think in our case, it can be done, with a really good TIG weld operator, and proper reinforcement of the tube. I know if it happens to mine, with the nearest dealer 450 miles away, I will be dusting off my engineering texts, and practicing my TIG skills. Keeping the suspension pickup points in the correct location during welding could be tricky as well. Yikes!

I don't mind at all, in fact I would love to have a conversation with a Morgan chassis engineer sometime. Even with computer finite element analysis, the real world is quite harsh and unforgiving.

Thank goodness for this forum & Matty. I'm joining the queue having just found my Chassis cracked just to rear of L/H top wishbone mounting by the welded in fillet. I had not noticed anything amiss but fortunately this thread prompted me to check. I had done 70mph in it this morning. Phoned the dealer & they said get it to us. AA will collect it & take it to Perth. They wont say any more until they have inspected it. Sure hope MMC are picking up the bill as they should for such a fault. I reckon I'll have the centa compensator at the same time, & perhaps have the clutch checked. My car is July 2013 build with 9447 miles. It will be third time its been transported to Perth & I hope its not laid up for weeks.

There is no report of a 2014-build (or later) car with chassis cracks so far, or is there?
