With all of the PC nonsense around these days, I just had to post these Little Gems from the May issue of our Local Parish Magazine, to make you smile?. The power of punctuation.

1. Don't let worry Kill you - let the Church help!

2. Remember in prayer the many who are sick of our church and community.

3. For those of you who have children and don't know it, we have a nursery downstairs.

4. This afternoon there will be a meeting in the south and north ends of the Church. Children will be baptised at both ends.

5. Tuesday at 4.00pm there will be an ice cream social. All ladied giving milk will please come early.

6. At the evening service tonight, the sermon topic will be "What is Hell?". Come early and listen to our Choir Practise.

PS In the fifties and sixties, there was a Welsh MP who represented one of the rural consituencies- Breconshire, I think- who raised a parliamentary question on transport links between Wales and London. In a subsequent debate, he commented," Furthermore, Mr Speaker, There is much more traffic using the M4 now than before it as built"

Plus ca change etc etc.

I don't know whether it is common to most politicians or whether we just have more than our fair share of oddballs here in South Wales, becuase another classic which springs to mind was when we had the opening of the Phase 2 extension to our local District General Hospital, the Chairman of the Health Board ended his speech by saying "and I do hope all these lovely new wards will be full by Christmas"

I can vouch for that one because my late father was at the ceremony, I was acting as his chauffeur and I actually heard the guy say it!

Today, I was been 'brushed to one side' by David Milliband ( Ex Foreign Secretary {well, I can live in Hope}) and his enterage as they breezed into Carnaby Street on their way to some place or other? I sadly resisted the instant temptation to give the a hearty shove in return

Not that I am 'Heightist' - Another group of 6 Foot Plus 'ers (I'm 5 Foot 10inches tall myself).

I have decided that we need a 'Campaign for Short Politicians' so that WE can LOOK DOWN on them and they can LOOK UP to US, the VOTERS, for a change.
