Re throttle position Giles....I made a small easy alteration to mine. It's mounted on two bolts (assuming it's fbw) and it's very easy to remove the lower bolt and swing the pedal up a couple of inches, then refit the bolt under the pedal rather than through it. This places the throttle roller just a little closer and, more importantly for me, places it in a proper relationship to the brake pedal. Heel and toe becomes easy. I did also reverse the side the roller was on, giving my feet a little more room.

I was quite worried about stories of hard suspension and being brave to buy before I drive.... but the worries are unfounded and the car feels lovely. Much more compliment than I had imagined.
The exhaust note is very charismatic, performance is lively, and it all feels rather special.

My initial observation is that you have to get quite close to the steering wheel to reach the throttle. Have most of you got a longer right leg from stretching?!
The old style hood looks lovely but getting those header rail fixings undone isn't easy, there must be a knack which I'm hoping some kind soul will teach me.
Roof is off, half tonneau is on as is the flat cap! 😂
Cheers, Giles

So nothing changes! Giles what you've written is exactly my experience with an old ('68) and well used 4/4. Also bought without having driven any other Mog. About all we could debate is VFE I.e. Flat Cap Critical speed. Mine lifts at 70mph but that's not something to blame on the 4/4. You have a great car.

Thanks again, top forum is this! 👍🏻😃
who can tell me where the heater controls are, I've found the blower motor, but temp selection and distribution have evaded detection so far.
I'm amazed to see and adjustable steering column!
There is a black round knob under the right hand side of the fascia, anyone know what this is?
Cheers, Giles

Well, I never thought of that!
My dealer didn't demonstrate this method to me.
That would explain the hood reluctance syndrome I have been suffering from!

Thank you Tim. smile

Hi Giles - glad you are liking the car.

Heater temp - is the other knob to the RHS of the fan. Can be reluctant when new. 5 clicks clockwise is max.

Heater outlets - centrally under the dashboard x2, these are louvred so may be closed if you can't feel them working. They are directional if twisted, so you have a choice of cooking your knee, shin or ankle.

Black round knob - illumination for dash instruments (if you are lucky, it will control all three instrument dials the same - mine doesn't!!)

So if the other round knob is temp selection (hot to cold), which is the heated screen?
Is there a distribution slider (feet to cabin)? Thinking about it, as there are no demist vents on the fascia topper pad and no face cents on the fascia.... I guess not!
I did try reading the manual but the section for the 4/4 was not really what I was looking for.
I will of course look again to locate the switches and controls.
Cheers, Giles

Heated screen is push button above the heater controls on the dash. Look for a large round button with a wiggly wires & a vague rectangle on..!

I am confused by this - my dealer described the sequence for hood fitting as

Install Hood - Rear before front
Remove hood - Rear before front

It's all about avoiding pulling on the windscreen fixings
????

Stuart, it sounds as if you have the old-school or 'traditional' hood with the nine studs on the screen rail. In that case, I also find it easier to fix the front last on assembling.

However, the newer style 'easy up' hood is different and this what the other guidance refers to. There are sprung clips for the rear of the hood which can be released before putting the hood down, and which are engaged last on putting the hood up.

Of the two types I have on two different cars, I prefer the look of the traditional hood (both up and down) but can't deny that the easy-up is so much easier to use.
