Spotted this Triking yesterday at Wellesbourne airfield.

Thought it may be of interest.


Personally I have never liked the very pointy front bodywork.

But the Guzzi motor looks good!

Be interesting to know if they've suffered similar exhaust and chassis issues.

I also like the JZR with Harley engine fit.

Very unlikely. The 90 deg Guzzi engine is well balanced. The forward facing exhaust ports put less strain on the exhaust system.

Understand the prototype is still around with several 100,000 miles on the clock. Narrower back tyre and lower engine output put less strain on the frame of course.

I had a JZR with a Honda 650 up front - it went very well.

I have also driven a Harley version - fantastic.

I did think that John Ziemba only ever did one Harley - but stand to be corrected!He mated it to a Ford gearbox. It went like stink!!

I too think that Triking have a good reputation - and shaft drive!!

I visited the "factory" with the MTWC in summer of 13.

Very interesting and well worth a look.

Shame that Charles Morgan didn't pay more attention to the Triking early 2000 when, ironically, Tony Divey the designer/builder was invited to bring one to Malvern.

I guess the timing was wrong since MMC were happy several years later to not only travel to the USA to test the Liberty, but buy the build rights

Agree, and from this angle, it has a strange resemblance to the front of a Plymouth Prowler. Mainly the way the hood is shaped I guess.

I will correct you! he supplied at least five Harley chassis. One a green one, I also drove, this went to Australia. There is one in Japan, one in the US (I transported it out there) and I think another, plus a red one here in Sussex somewhere, used to be in Heathfield. It wasn't that well thought out with a heavy Ford Cortina 4 speed gearbox and heavy flywheel and clutch pack.

On my bench is a Harley 1340 Evo engine which at some stage will be mated to a Moto Guzzi gearbox with a much lightened flywheel and single plate Guzzi clutch. I look forward to this possibly later this year.

The Moto Guzzi drivetrain is simple but necessitates an off centre drive shaft. No point in introducing a heavy 35KG gearbox as per the MX5. next advance is the Guzzi 1400cc engine and gearbox, and that'll be a flyer!

I'm saying up front that I'm not that familiar with the different "kits" that were out there, or still are for that matter.

I thought this was a Triking, but I'm thinking more towards a JZR instead.

This is a Harley Shovelhead motor. It dates from around '72 through '83. This was the motor in line before the EVO that got Harley back on their feet.











Regardless of make, it does look quite nice. I don't see the original Harley trans, but I don't see a doghouse and a full size auto transmission either. It does look like it has a push/pull shifter that would lead me to believe that's it's a motorcycle trans of some sort. I'd be interested to know though.

The Triking looks like it's been engineered nicely and as you guys have said, they seem to hold up very well.
