I took the old girl out today for the first time this year and had an enjoyable run in brilliant sunshine. Checked the oil before starting and level was way down so put half a pint or so in. I then thought about the wet sumping where the oil drains after a long period standing, started the engine and ran for a minute or so. Then rechecked the oil level and the oil was a creamy colour just like water in the oil on a water cooled engine. Anyone any ideas or ???

Condensation in oil tank and maybe engine itself emulsifying with oil once engine is started. Suggest oil/filter change before further use.

I agree. Classic condensation symptoms, and change is needed.
Good excuse for a run out when you've done it, Brian..!!

You've confirmed my suspicions ! I'll check the oil again now cold and see what colour it is! I'm thinking of using Valvoline 20/50 racing oil having had great success with that previously unless someone has other recommendations? Also anyone know the capacity save me looking it up? Thanks all!

So I finished mowing the lawns just around sunset, felt pretty self righteous and needed a reward. What better than to take Thumper out for a spin in the heavy dewey air. The smells are wonderful at that time of day. The car even sounds better rumbling round the Hertfordshire roads in the early evening. What more could you ask for?

I could wait no longer, 60F and sunshine, got her out of hibernation and went for a ride. Started right up, a battery tender is a wonderful thing. Bevel box noise down, but that may be due to cooler temps. Plotting my route to Augusta, Georgia for the May meeting.
