Congrats! I am just over 2 years into mine. Enjoying it immensely. Best thing I had was a pre retirement package from the company. A weekly session in Cardiff where we were based with a consultancy. Really got my mind on track for the retirement. 3 months leading up to the final day. A great plus in changing the "work mindset" to retirement and in work a nice handover with winding down. Enjoy your freedom.

I retired at 55. My father, who worked until he was 90 was shocked. Truth is that it has been brilliant. For him not so because he has no interests outside of work.
It will be fine.

Congratulations Graeme, you beat the clock to this milestone!
I'm still prevaricating about retirement, I reduced to 60% this year which is helping teach us how to live on less income.
I'm very fortunate in that I get to chose when i retire and can stay on as long as I wish... I'm be 65 in a week, but Merck still seems to want me about.
It is also fun working with the young kids who will be the next generation of management, I wish I had their energy!

I went at 63 and it's a great empowering tool for you and the whole family benefits in every way.
The company created but it's about you taking control not some accountants bottom line, and you won't wake up one morning thinking if only.

I retired at 46.....never regretted it and have kept pretty busy ever since. It gave me a chance to do things I'd always dreamed of doing like being an artist but never thought I would.

I argue why does one retire so early ?
Is it you cant stand your employer ?
I love my Business and its a joy to go to every day....even like today...the worst day of the year.....end of year stock check...@ 80.000 units to count, although the majority boxed in 6s or 12s
