Having got totally peeved with Morgan and their lack of communication or seeming coherence regarding Stage performance kits, I finally went the Krazy Horse route...having been tipped off by another Morgan dealer.

The vehicle had to be picked up from the West Country, taken to Cambridge and converted. This whole process was done brilliantly.

The Mog was returned with the old parts nicely boxed up and spotlessly clean.

Although the whole business of what the kit would deliver seemed a little vague, I was assured I'd notice the difference. There was a dyno print out that seemed to suggest that either the increase in HP was small, or Morgan themselves had been deluded about the actual power of their product. Well, we'd see:

The first thing I noticed is that the kit looks well made (what you can see of it) and the car started with a cacophony within the confines of my workshop that was startling. Hmm...those ear plugs went straight in! Once warmed up, I noticed the idle was marginally lumpier that with the standard set up. Nothing to be concerned about though.

Initially I had a passenger.

Acceleration, accompanied by a really tasty soundtrack, felt similar to how it had when solo, before conversion. I had been a little disappointed by the fact that the Mog had never felt fast, originally; not what I'd been led to believe by the original road tests, some of which claimed 115hp. Not sure what happened to all those ponies.

Once the passenger had been dropped off, and heading up some dry, fast road, it became obvious that the thing does have more urge and covered the ground quicker. I never registered any great lack of torque before, just acceleration, as in an over-take and continued pace toward higher speeds.

It'e early days and this is not remotely scientific but aiming to exclude the stimulating effect of the delicious exhaust note, the impression is of a noticeably harder performance edge. Suddenly it feels a fair bit more serious.

Obviously any major performance increase would be harder on the belt drive, so a great deal more grunt might not be a good thing. I have yet to find out what will happen at any future MOT, viz noise, although Krazy Horse suggest that won't be an issue. I get the impression that they know what they are doing (being directly involved with engine tuning myself) and that quite possibly Morgan don't always.
I know this sounds bizarre but most of us know that Morgan could 'do better'.

Anyway, since Ive been able to glean next to nothing about this conversion from the Forum (perhaps due to Search ineptitude), I hope this can help someone.

Bencmaster,
Rest assured, Krazy Horse know what they are up to. I would be very surprised if you have any problems but if you do I'm sure they will sort them, at least that has been my experience.

I'm really surprised about that but then I did persist....getting straight answers and no messing about at all. Actually very impressed.

They all seem nice people and only heard good things. Maybe I'm too laid back. I give George a call tomorrow!
