There are a few in my neck of the woods. I feel a drive out in Tarka, together with a camera is called for! One still sells fuel, from attended pumps no less!

Panes in Upton is pretty old school. Petrol's expensive mind.

Ah yes, I know this one - very old school.
I like the concrete blocks at the front to prevent ram-raiders.

Looks similar to one that used to be in Hildenborough, Kent on the London Road (now gone). My Dad used to take me on a Saturday morning in his TR3A but the appeal for me was not the car ride - the owner had a pet Mynah bird called Jacko that would say "f*ck off" if you fed it a piece of Eccles cake. Highlight of my week as a kid.

This Garage is in the village of Cleeve Prior - near Evesham.

Its a fully operational Garage - but as you can see the pumps have long since gone out of service!

And a jolly good garage it is too. They have looked after our family tin tops for years - proper old fashioned service and you know the work is done properly.

It a time warp. Brilliant!!

The New Forest exists in a bit of a time-warp, helped by draconian planning regulations that make it virtually impossible to change the use of a business. There are also strict weight limits that make delivering anything difficult.

The result is that there are 3 garages near me, one even sells petrol and diesel, that look like the garages I grew up knowing as a kid.

First, on the A36 is the one that sells fuel, they serve you...


What is that law that says you cannot put more than 2L of petrol in a can?


Moving on, into the Forest we find Volvotech... Busy servicing Volvos, but no fuel.


Deeper into the forest we find the Rosary Garage. They were selling fuel up to a couple of years ago.


The Ford doesn't look as if it has moved for a long time....


There is one more I want to "bag" as they still sell leaded 4Star fuel....
