After lurking at the back of the forum for the past 9 months I thought it's about time I said hello and introduced myself

Short Version: I live near Cambridge and currently own a 2017 sport green/tan 3-wheeler.

(Much) Longer Introduction: Back in early 2015 I decided that at the age of 40(ish) I really needed some kind of unjustifiably expensive mid-life crisis purchase. I really wanted a big bike but my other half was having none of it. I considered a variety of classic British sports cars but realistically I lack to space to store them and the mechanical ability to keep them going. I nearly went down the more modern Caterham/Ariel route, before finally settling on the Morgan 3 Wheeler.

The only real problem was my size. At 6' 1" and 340lbs the chances of even getting into a 3-Wheeler were probably pretty slim. I couldn't do much about my height, but I gave myself a weight loss target - drop 100lbs in 12 months and I'd buy myself a 3 Wheeler. So that exactly what I did. Amazing what the right motivation can achieve!

So last summer a significantly smaller version of me took a 3 Wheeler for a first test drive and was completely blown away by it. I subsequently rented one for a week and took my son glamping in the picturesque Lincolnshire Wolds. We covered a couple of hundred miles and even made a mini-pilgrimage to Cadwell Park, where my Dad used to take me to watch classic 3-wheelers race 30+ years ago.

Within 2 weeks I'd put down a deposit on a brand new Morgan. But being impatient, I couldn't wait around for months for it to be built, so I also bought a second-hand M3W to drive around for the tail-end of the summer - a sport red one with a black stripe and black interior.

After covering over 1,000 miles in the first month of ownership, the story takes a downward turn. At the end of last September I suddenly collapsed and was admitted to hospital with some nasty complications of a burst stomach ulcer. I'd previously not even needed to see a doctor for 25 years, then suddenly I'm surrounded by them. It certainly helps to bring life's priorities into focus. I had to take a couple of months off work and even now I'm not quite firing on all cylinders yet, but I'm getting there slowly.

Meanwhile the team at Malvern had finished building my dream M3W and I took delivery a few weeks ago. It's a fairly standard(!) sport green M3W with a tan interior, garnished with MOG roundels and a shark face. The standard air filter has been replaced by an S&S muscle cover; the windscreens have been replaced by smaller versions and it has a particularly loud non-standard exhaust system. His name is WarDog smile

I'm eventually hoping to undertake some sort of epic road trip. But for now I'm looking forward to a summer of driving aimlessly around Cambridgeshire and being pointed at by small children.

Welcome Jim, what an introduction. Congratulations on your 3 wheeler and continuing recovery. A Morgan should be part of the NHS.

Jim, welcome.

Like asboJohn I think I spotted you around Huntingdon last weekend, I was enjoying the good weather in my Aero Plus 8. Can often be spotted in the Huntingdon/st Ives area in either the Plus 8 or my 4/4.
