Good luck with getting the front end sorted Peter. Sun, it's sometheng we saw here a few days ago, admittedly fora couple of weeks!. Been kept awake half the night with strong winds (nothing to do with last night's dinner  ) and rain lashing down. 4/4 tucked safely in garage. Will go and see how much rain the LR & daily runabout Z3 have let in since yesterday...

On my old 4/4 it were the wire wheels which go easily out of true. Trueing them and careful balancing of the tires cured the shimmy for a while then it came back. In the end I bought a new set of wheels. Now I only have a hardly noticeable vibration at 50 mph.

how about buying a set of mags and changing the hubs to suit? sounds very expensive but might be the only option available to one?
If you are doing nothing, how do you know when you are finished?

wonder what my 4/4 2 seater would look like with a set of chrome mags and low profile tyres..... feel a bit sick and giddy

I am a first time morgan owner. Do you need to do anything to the one shot oiler or is it automatic There are many comments and threads on the site about this. if you type 'one shot oiler' into the search panel it will bring up about 200 entries. I know what I am about to say sounds strange, but if your car IS fitted with the one shot oiler, ( the Factory stopped fitting them in about 2002, I think?) my own advice would be to ignore it, fit grease nipples to the front suspension and grease it rather than oil it. I don't know if you have come across the 'GoMog' site but there is also quite an interesting debate about the advantages/ disadvantages on there at: http://www.gomog.com/allmorgan/front.htmregards, G PS No, it's not automatic-you have to operate it

during the first week after delivery of my plus 8 almost 11 years ago , I ran brake pipes from the top of the king pins to the offside bonnet side of the engine bay, next to the coil with a couple of grease nipples fitted to a couple of bulkhead adapter fittings in a custom made stainless steel bracket.
My advice is not to use the One Shot Oil Oiler , since its introduction in the days before horses & carts technology has moved forward , the grease which is supposed to be pumped into the bottom of the bottom bush to provide a grease seal & retain the oil; is totally ineffective as modern oils just flush it away & the oil drops straight out onto all the the things its not supposed to, this in turn allows dust & road grit to be ingested between the bottom bush & the King pin, this makes a really effective grinding past & you will be lucky to get more than 25K out of your bushes

Unteresting subject. Sorry I' a bit late in joining in, but I have only had my 1985 +8 for a month and therefore only just discovered where the One Shot Oiler is (Thanks Melvyn Rutter)and that mine is rusted completely solid. It looks like I am going to have to ignore it for the moment so I am pleased to see that there appears to be so much disagreement! If anyone has a tip for loosening up the Oiler, I would appreciate it. At least then I would have an option whether to use it or not!
