As stated the springs pre 2005 were 6 leaf and probably the same set up as the Rover engined +4 4 seaters.
The post 2005 4 seater springs are 2 seater 4 leaf springs with more curve in the top leaf. Good idea in principle as it improves ride but weakens over time. The single leaf is unsupported on its initial compression and flattens on the 2nd leaf .
A special coil over shock absorber would be ideal as it would assist the top spring, improve ride height and be a simple fit.
The spring would not need to do more than assist the existing set up and could also improve ride.

Just to complete the timeline. My 1989 4 seater had seven leaf springs, as did all 4 seaters up until the body design change in 1999.

Since then I have taken a leaf out (now 6 leaf) fitted Rutherford conversion to change the angle of the shock, and fitted Koni shocks.

Might be worth having a chat with Dan White Suspension Supplies Ltd

Suspension Supplies Ltd was formed by Dan and Peter Ballard when Suplex decided to concentrate on replacement springs only. Dan and Peter at SSL are now producing the SSL RS and SSL 5L front and rear suspensions for Morgan. I know they were thinking of doing something for the 4 seater but I have no idea if that project has moved along or not.

I see from their web site that they are looking at single leaf composite springs for classic Morgans. That could be a very interesting development as it would not require any modifications to fit and offer the advantages of no stiction (such as you get between the leaves of multi-leaf springs), light weight and durability.

Hi Will, just checked and my springs are 6 leaf
Don't know what the shocks are - Lifes put some new ones on last year as they discovered mine were completely gone which probably is more testament to the springs
