On my car with damper blades I lever up the bronze plate and look for grease coming out from the gap. Only a small / 2-3mm gap). I was told this by Phil at Allon White when I bought my first Mog there. I regreased last week but different grease on each side! I ran out of moly so did the second side with pale bearing grease. I grease at 800-1000 miles max. Don't forget to spray chain lube on your rear leaf spring too. If dry they lose movement of leaves over each other causing a slightly harder ride and wear.

I wonderd why you were driving in circles yesterday.

Rear up on stands and a bolt tightness once over in Spring and autumn.

For the leaf springs, I can recommend either Castrol or Halfords motorcycle chain wax. It penetrates the leaves and dries to a wax, so very little mess. It makes the ride smoother and reduces itinerant squeaks from that area. On the damper blades (and also the hub splines), I always use copper-slip. For the kingpins - Castrol or similar LM grease.

Thank you for the recommendation Bud. Another trip to Halfords then.

I use Penrites fluid grease designed for steering boxes, it's not quite a solid grease at normal temperatures, seems to get to the right places but is thick enough not not leak everywhere.
Oil is a better lubricant if you can keep it in so it seems a good compromise, but agree any grease is better than none.
You'll hear advice about being careful not to overdo it and risk it getting on brake discs. To be honest you'll have to go some to create enough excess grease to do that but little and often is the key. I saw Penrite advertised all over New Zealand. I think it is an Aussie product. In the U.S. I have only found Studebaker Steering box lubricant, a semi liquid and expensive. I use it in my DHC Worm & Peg steering with success. Redline Synthetic CV grease looks almost semi liquid. Certainly flows well. I have used it but really not sure it is better the Molly.

Molybdenum disulphide grease is designed for use in sliding situations apparently. I used bearing grease on my car for a while then back to moly. 25k since bought and no wear noticeable. Hard chrome kingpins. The old 4/4 had the one shot oiler. That needed watching for oil getting everywhere so regular visuals, wipe clean etc..
