That is 1 solution! My battery conditioner was I think cheaper though... although I did have problems starting once without it (embarrassingly at the front of a ferry). I might get a plug-in LiPo booster for those occasions!

I've always thought easy start was a bit evil! Fine on elderly lawnmowers, but I've heard that it can ignite on the compression stroke before the piston reaches tdc- can even ignite on the exhaust stroke. The ether is so incredibly volatile.

My grandfather garage told me a story that dated before WW II he was going to visit a brother garage when he had difficulty to restart an old single-cylinder automobile older than the WW I, his colleague wanting Showed him that he knew the easy trick to start a recalcitrant automobile put a tablespoon of ether to show him start a blast engine the first explosion was right, the breech broke the screws and part Breaking at the tavers of the glass roof.
Care must be taken not to break the starter if the motor runs in the opposite direction with the modern starter.

Has anyone ever seen starting ether used to set the bead when mounting a tire? Spray a bit of ether into the tire, stand back, touch a match, and light 'er off. Bang, and the bead is set. I've watched this done, but have never had to resort to it myself. Very effective use of however! And quick!

Using ether to start an engine is akin to smashing the tops of the piston crowns with a sledge hammer.

I used to work with old Enfield diesel genny sets that actually employed an ether cartridge injection system for starting in extreeme cold. The sound when it fired after such abusive treatment (exactly as described above) grated on your mechanical sympathy ooo

My memory of easystart is a bit vague but we used to use it for starting cold diesel lorries. But I remember much talk of the engines becoming addicted to it, though sadly I can't remember the technical reason.
