Hi All, My S4 is currently in having a its windscreen replaced after being cracked on my delivery trip, fianlly. The noisy fan is also being fixed with the recommended replacement part. One issue that is unresolved is that the battery goes flat within a week of non-use. There appears to be a light that stays on behind the door open button and the boot release button. Has anyone seen the same problem and if so, any recommended fixes while it is in the garage ?? Other issues to fix include both interior lights have now died and the left rear speaker won't talk to me. Anyone else experiencing similar issues ? Still love the car though, especially with our Indian summer
Cheers,
Steve

Hi Kiwi - there was a pretty recent thread on battery drain in this forum.
I think the general conclusion (and what I do) is to run a trickle charger to ensure the battery is conditioned and doesn't run down. This seems to be the best solution.

Steve,
The battery solution seems to be keep it charged. As Mr_Tony has said this has been featured elsewhere on the forum.
With regards to the speaker not working this would suggest a loose wire. If it does involve gaining access to the rear parcel shelf it maybe worth getting the dealer to have a look at the fuel tank breather pipe.
I have an issue with mine which means the engine management light comes on. Been to a local dealer this morning to identify the problem. Given your distance from the dealer a bit of preventative action maybe a sound move.
Now when will you let go of the Indian summer and send it our direction. It'll make a change from Ash clouds.
Slowly going green

I did receive a battery conditioner delivered with the car. First time this has happened to me with a new car !!! I've already had a new battery fitted after the car was shipped. My RS6 original battery has just been replaced after 6+ years.
I believe that when the battery goes flat within a week is NOT normal.
There must be a design issue which creates the problem with the wiring.
Any ideas ?
Cheers,
Steve

I don't believe it is the wiring because most of this will have been designed for the car; however, the CAN-bus system is adapted (due to the significant cost to develop a full system from new) and therefore, as with certain other anomalies, I wonder if the system isn't shutting down all the items that would/could drain power? As for the light in the boot that people have questioned whether or not it stays on, wouldn't a solution be to put a switch in line between the power source and the light? If switching the light off (manually) stops the drain, then problem solved. Pulling the bulb would also (I believe) have the same effect but does leave the socket live. That is my 2p

PS - the battery on my car will be flat within 2-weeks (maximum) if I do not drive it; however, I attribute this to the drain caused by the active tracker (which is always on and draining power at an alarming (no pun) rate). I know it isn't an internal light being left on because I can see all the lights and none stay on.

I noticed in the J Leno / Mr Koenigsegg video he mentioned that they developed some electronic gismo of some type that kept the essential computer live but allowed the Battery warning lamp etc to be switched off to save the battery power. Something like that would be handy on the Morgans but I wonder how they did that?

Simon, open boot. get into boot. close boot lid. establish if boot light is on and draining power. if it is, remove bulb. if Panic sets in use mobile to call 999 if battery flat, panic more and more. Wake up and go to work
If you are doing nothing, how do you know when you are finished?
