Here in UK I think the legal trail is through the dealer you purchased from. WhenI fell out with a British car manufacturer about work I considered should be warranty and the factory didn't, I told the dealer I was very reluctantly taking them to court, as my lawyer told me I couldn't take action against the manufacturer but had a watertight case against the seller. I then informed the carmaker of the same. Miraculously, all was suddenly solved and work done and payment refunded.

Thank you all for your support, and maybe the story isn't over. I have not been in contact with Morgan, but through my dealer who was at the factory and said he showed the cracked frame pictures to someone there. I'm well aware Morgan is a small company and I would never be the one to follow my problem to the deconstruction of the company, there are just too many people who depend on Malvern for lots of fun. I'm not finished yet and will continue to keep pecking away for a while. At least maybe all of us can learn something from My experience.

Ok, butting in again..

The story so far is that you've been to your dealer with an issue. Your dealer has then attended the factory and spoken with 'someone', and has told you that your frame will be replaced but you have to get it there & back. Is that correct?

Who is your dealer?

This is just me, but if all of my options with the factory ended up being me sending the M3W back on my dime, I would go to my local race car chassis builder and have them take a look at the situation.

The original frame is tube with welds. I'm sure that a competent chassis roll bar fabricator could "fix" the cracked area and reinforce at the same time. Probably for around $500.

I'm sure the engine would need to be removed and the upper right A arm etc, but this is not rocket science and a SAFE fix can be made. This is my opinion only, but I would be looking at Plan B right now.

A fix like this could be done in less than a couple weeks and probably well within driving/trailering range.

I've read this whole thing and a "fix" has always been in the back of my mind.

Also if it were me, I would look at having the same person design a front cross tie brace between the two front upper frame tubes. This can only help to box in the frame for even more support.

I hope you end up with an acceptable fix one way or the other.

Have a great weekend.

Thanks Dan, I've had many of the same thoughts myself. I have a great "frame man" very close to me. And its the lower "A" frame front mount and quite easy to get to to weld and gusset. The lower a frame will have to be removed because of the rubber bushings. Also as I mentioned in an earlier blog I've already installed the triangular (factory "upgrade") reinforcement you mentioned. If I've accomplished anything here its maybe to raise the awareness of all the guys and to remember that we are indeed the "Beta" testers here and to crawl around in and under your cars and do a monthly inspections. Frankly, I'm about worn out with all this and just want to drive my sweet little car. Thanks again Gents.
PS Stringer asked --the dealer is ISIS Motors in San Francisco

As an employee at Isis Imports (Morgan Cars USA) in San Francisco, I am very sympathetic to this issue and am doing all I can to find a viable solution. And we are your closest Morgan dealer, however I believe the Morgan was purchased elsewhere? (Apologies if I am mistaken about this) Not that this would discourage us from wanting to help you...3 Wheelers are meant to be enjoyed - to have it sit unused makes me unhappy and I am so sorry this has been an issue for so many.

Sincerely,

Tcherek

hbatts my chassis broke on the top rail R/H just behind the top wishbone rear mount point. Red Three had a similar fracture so reinforcing the bottom rail alone may not be enough.
