Oh how irritating... how is it (the socket) broken? Have you tried any other devices in it - like charging your phone - just to double check?

Yes I've tried various devices and nothing powers up and the display just states"No device"with different phones, even tried an IPad. Popped into an ICE shop today and picked up a new Alpine unit with bluetooth etc built in. I'll hopefully be fitting it tomorrow.

Oh good... Let me know how you get on with the wee device, I wouldn't be without mine. There are shorter cables on Amazon - bit expensive, but shorter. smile

If your phone's bluetooth is on before starting the car, the phone will pair automatically.

The usb connector has had it on the head unit. So I fitted a new stereo instead. An Alpine CDE-178BT with CD player, Bluetooth, external USB cable and handsfree kit, which is going to be very interesting over the noise of the side pipes 😁 Left the speakers alone for now as the new stereo sounds better to me. Northern Soul I find sounds as it does never really needs high quailty speakers listening .

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Peter is there a reason (Aerial perhaps) that you went with the 178 and not the 196 which adds DAB ?

DAB radio works very well with a Morgan style antenna, all that is needed is a powered splitter. I fitted a good quality Hirschman antenna and for DAB Reception it only needs extending 2 sections, not 4. The Morgan OEM antenna SELLS for less than £10.00 so the quality is questionable....

I hardly ever listen to the radio in the Morgan but the main reason was it wasnt in stock in the shop so I wasn't to fussed that the didnt have it.

the best solution i have fond for a Trad i'ts install back on the grille an electronic antenna (like the gold 2 gen) as they come with 4 meter cable all it's perfect in all situation, the antenna it's hidden so it's also a good point.
