I'd assume they buy 97.8% of all stocks grin2

As the talk of grease guns and greasing is rife on here at the
moment I thought I'd best slide under the Mog for the first time to see where everything is. So I've just done it.

Identified the nipples and had a mooch around.

Really surprised at the amount and depth/coverage of waxoil used. Really coated all over with severe splashage on me nice new green springs and yellow dampers, I'd commit murder if someone did that to the Lotus grin2

With the Morgan once more though it is just quirky and somehow comforting.

I really love this car more than any other I've had for a heck of a long time. One of the Morgan guys said to me pre purchase "The car really lives", I am now fully compliant with all what that means thumbs

The overspray on to the dampers will not frustrate for long. The factory ones last around 2 years - then you can upgrade to nice shiny black AVO adjustables or similar.

Going to be interesting to watch as "first love" wears off when you can do a more even handed(? smile ) appraisal of Morgan merits vs the Lotus. They are chalk and cheese ( assuming you dont have a Lotus 7).

As a former Lotus owner I did many test of Morgan when it came time to sell my Lotus but I could never really adapt to the handling dynamics, hence the choice I made. But I wouldnt be on this forum if I didnt still fancy a Morgan deep down. Maybe the next Trad will have IRS and discs all round love

Wonder what became of Easter - he used to have a Morgan but went the other way to a Lotus. His views of the Lotus were similar to yours of the Morgan.

Hi Howard, yes chalk and cheese as you rightly say.
I've had Lotus and 7's for years and years now so maybe it's the novelty but I don't think so.
Just sold my 7 to Oakmere so sevenless at present. Since I stopped competing I found I had far less interest in them.

The Lotus is a gem, no doubt but for road use and Sunday blatting you have to face it, you don't get near to what the car is built for primarily, that's not to knock it. It drives like a dream and has lovely road manners, but the urge is always there to open it up which with the roads of today is becoming very frowned upon indeed.

The Morgan on the other hand, as well as SWMBO liking it and also willing to go out in it is special, special in the fact that it delivers its ace card and what it was built for cruising and skipping through the country lanes at 40mph or even less.

No urge to prove any points to anyone, just a nice feeling of being inside the thing with its wood, leather and carpet smell and its little exhaust popping and gurgling.

Also, and yesterday was an example. We went to a little farm shop for some veg. I chose one 20 miles away for a scenic country jaunt.

Now when I'm out in the fully spoilered, mini Group C style Lotus people have a tendancy to "pretend" they've not seen you. I also notice some snarly faces if I'm honest.

Jeez, we were at that farm shop for over 40 minutes yesterday. Simply every customer who parked up rooted me out for a chat, every single one.
Even the farmers Mrs brought her tribe out to see it and everyone went home with pics.

Only really been out in it twice and the first outing was the same, nice people asking questions and obviously loving the car.

Not experienced this before with any of the many "odd balls" I've owned.

You could be right, the glow may wear off, however believe me, I don't go over the top with new cars any more and have become blase to an extent.
This little thing has renewed my enthusiasm for cars again in the most unlikely way. thumbs

Great to hear Kenny

We went to Crosby through Formby in the Morgan on Saturday and we even had a group of cyclists pull up alongside us waiting at a level crossing in Formby chatting to us about the car

Cheers guys, nice one.

Thing is also that the "arms race" has move on somewhat.
I remember 25 years ago and my first dabblement with odd ball stuff.
I bought a Westfield and built a 135bhp x/flow Supersprint engine for it.
Now that car felt so quick it was eye watering, I remember pasting a mates 2.8 Brooklands Capri as though it was a milkfloat. All relatively low speed stuff in fairness.

Now though you have tintops that are just so bloody fast even revered quick cars like Caterhams need to be very quick if you are the type that picks up the gauntlet easily.

Golf R's,Hondas, Fast Fords and even big oil burners are now brutally quick. I reckon my mapped BMW 1 series diesel would murder the Chimaera 400 I had not that long ago.

You'd need a quick 7 or Lotus to save you from a 100 metre sprint defeat by any of the tintops above.

So as I no longer compete and have no intentions of racing dickheads on the road I see the Morgan as a stress free and beautiful little thing to continue enjoying "fun" cars in a different way.

Maybe I'm not explaining myself right but I hope you see what I mean a bit thumbs
