The appeal of a Morgan to passerby is not a myth, it’s a well documented phenomenon. We find especially in France that people love the Morgan. One day we were trickling through Dieppe in the traffic, and came to a halt by some traffic lights. There was an old boy, looked like an old soldier, wearing a beret, leaning on a walking stick. He saw us, pulled himself upright, and gave us a solemn salute. 'Er Indoors immediately burst into tears, bless her. Spanner Juggler will no doubt tell you the tale of making some young chef's day by taking him for a blast in his Plus8 one Sunday lunchtime.

The appeal of a Morgan to passerby is not a myth, it’s a well documented phenomenon. Once a customer explained how he was torn and could not decide between a few different cars; I told him: “I am guessing that you have never driven a red Morgan before. Every single person does a double take as you pass by, and at least once per outing someone yells out “Nice car!” This is simply a fact. Other high end, expensive fancy cars may have persons staring, glaring from resentful envy, or wondering what it is that the driver is trying to compensate for, but in a red Morgan everyone smiles and waves at you. You make new friends everywhere you go.” I can verify this red car phenomenom. Red attracts people. Yellow attracts insects!

You think a Red +8 attracts people. Try driving down the street in a M3W. Not only do car people like it but motorcycle people and kids like it also. I've never driven anything that gets so much attention. Many times people in front of me will pull over just to see the car pass by. Then their is the ones that follow for miles in hopes you stop so they can have a closer look.

I can recall childhood holidays being treated with such courtesy by elderly French when they realised we were English. It was rather charming. Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.

I have done so! Several by now, from a 1934 model to a 2017. I was having way too much fun to notice who was watching.

My own tale reminds me of a time on the Isle of Wight, cruising through Ventnor or some such place in a line of slow traffic I spied some right 'erberts standing at a bus stop looking at us as we approached. They were kicking a tin can and looking ready for action....Here goes I thought as we got closer...one of them shouted 'Nice car mate....to which SWMBO who can never identify a potential dodgy situation turned and waved at them as we passed.....matey boy then shouted ' and your not bad either darling, a bit luscious but I would'.....so proud!

This all reminds me...When the Aero 8 became available in the USA, I had a waiting list compiled, some persons had been on it for FIVE years. The #2 slot went to a woman. She and I had discussed every detail of her car for ages by the time she took delivery. It was gorgeous, metallic Blue. Soon afterwards, she told me she was out for a drive and some guys on the corner shouted out "Who'd you have to $#@% to get that car?!?!" Mind you, this woman was an accomplished scientist, and paid for this car with help from nobody. Fortunately she had a sense of humor, and seemed to be flattered that they considered her so attractive as to have been given the car as a gift. (Meanwhile I doubt that all of their IQs combined could come close to approaching hers...)
