The wipers are brilliant on my Morgan - but only in one direction.

From rest to vertical, they do their brief job, as a trio, with style, panache and aplomb.

But their return journey is a disappointment.

I have read about replacement blades, but am a little unsure of the best ones and also how to fit them. I don't particularly want to have a fiddly DIY job as I'm not great at such things.

I assume there are superior blades that will mean I can see for more than 50% of the time in the rain?

One thing you can try is to ensure that when the blades are in the vertical position on the screen, the arm holds the blade exactly perpendicular to the screen.

Usually when blades wipe fine in one direction but not the other, it's because the blade isn't flipping over correctly on the change of stroke.

If you set the blades in the vertical position (I turn off the ignition in mid stroke) you can then remove the wiper arms and use a pair of pliers or something to grip the wiper arm to twist it slightly one way or the other.

Mind you, I still find that in anything other than heavy rain they are a bit pants. I try to rely on Rain-X and not using my wipers for as long as I can.

The wipers are of any use?

I rely on Rain-X and use the wipers very little.

I always referred to them as windscreen smearers rather than wipers, that way I was never disappointed in their performance.

It's called expectation management.

It works.

Just ask Michael O'Leary at Ryan Air.

I've ordered some.

It's all in the buffing. Apparently.

The problem I have with rain x is that, when you do use the wipers, it smears beyond belief. How do you all cope with that?
