Hi all,
what do you think about to sobstitute the normal H4 lamps of my 2009 +4 with xenon lamps? I'm asking this because I see a very big difference in the dark in comparison of the xenon lamps of my Volvo S80.The doubt: it could betray the MOG's philosophy?
Thanks

Hi Fabrizio,

Better light is a good idea, but it might be difficult to meet the legal requirements of self-levelling suspension of the car or automatic height adjustment of the headlights.

In Norway we are fortunate enogh to have white nights during the Morgan season, but I miss xenon headlights when entering dark tunnels with my prescription sun-glasses.

I wouldn´t do that.
Technically, the lamp inserts with the conventional diffusor screen would give rise to stray light which will flash other drivers´ eyes in the night. That´s one reason why Xenon lamps produce a very sharp edge between dark and light regions.
And the looks of converted conventional headlight, apart from being illegal, are in my opinion "less than perfect".

HIDs and Xenons are another reason why it is even harder for me to drive at night - certainly can't drive anything as low as a Mog - get blinded by oncoming traffic...

I had Cibie Tango Spot lights fitted mainly to achieve a particular look for my +8 but I have to say they are really good for night driving and probably a lot cheaper to fit than Xenons.

Hi Harald,
Interesting to see an entry from Norway. I'm standing by a new build ship in Søvik. I'd have loved to have brought my car over but the ferry service from Newcastle has finished swear
Sorry for getting off the subject!
Regards
Simon

Thank you for your point of vieuw and your considerations. So I decided to keep the normal lamps as supplied from the factory.

I recently fitted some replacement H4 'Xenon' bulbs. Boasted to be 90% brighter (Halfords Extreme bulbs). They certainly seem brighter and still give a white (not blue) light and not too intense. Only £20 each.

Full Xenons, they are not (as on my X3 and wife's Cooper S) but a very good compromise I feel.
