I bought myself a Flying Jacket when I got my first Caterham 20 years ago, big mistake as it was impossible to wear it and fit in the car at the same time.

Its languished in my 1/100th share of the wardrobe space I own since, and has been a right Royal pain in the arse too, laughing at me every time it falls out when I open the door.

I have worn it on brisk and chilly Christmas mornings and hired it out to a friend who went as Biggles to a fancy dress party, but that's it. It's arms are still stiff and it stands up on its own still grin2

So, I remembered about it last night, got it out and put it on and got in the Morgan parked up in the garage....brilliant thumbs

Question now is, are these still in vogue with modern Morgan man or are they so very yesterday daaarling?

I thought I looked good in the car yesterday but the Mrs said I pulled a stupid face whilst wearing it.

Anyone else here wear one and find it adds to the excitement and ownership experience?, or has Berghaus and other gortexy stuff taken over as the garment to be seen in? winky

With a Morgan it's all about function over form and who gives a whatsit about being "seen" as long as you are warm and dry!

Not for me but I’ve noticed most of the flock are wearing sheep skin again this season.

PS - you must share a huge wardrobe in your house!

Wherever you see a bunch of classic car enthusiasts, you'll easily spot the Morgan owners. It's like the Worshipful Company of Flying Jacket Owners annual outing..

They do seem to be the essential accessory for the discerning Morgan driver, and they do what they're supposed to very well. I think they're essential wear for chilly sidecreen off motoring mornings.

The downside is the bulk & the weight, of course. I find I can't wear mine with the hood up as it's simply too bulky, so unless it's freezing I compromise with a jacket that is lighter and equally as warm without the bulk.

Fashion sense with Morgan driver..? Some still wear the hated baseball cap..

I have two! First bought from Lakeland. Second is a genuine numbered Morgan one bought of a chap in the golf club. He is an ex Mog owner from 20+ years ago.
They can be bulky, especially if you get the Irvin type. They do keep you warm though.
If not cold then I end up in lighter waterproofs with layers to suit. A "buff" to keep my neck warm, hat to suit( flat cap/waterproof/trapper style/beenie).
In summer a t-shirt/shorts is fine or olo/shirt/jumper. A hodie s handy too for hatless driving and a quick cover up if needed.

Most Morgan owners, seem to have a flying jacket, even if they only wear them in secret. innocent

I'm with Max5 on this one.

Be careful though, if it has buckles on the bottom of the back/side they can play havoc with your leather seats.

I wear mine pretty much all year unless the weather is very warm. I love it.

I'll have to give it a go then thumbs Problem was with the harnesses in the 7 you were just too restricted and very much squashed, especially as the thing "rode" up your back when you got in.

I agree though, warmest thing ever. They did me a deal on one of their 25th sqd. Tornado jackets too.........now I've literally worn that one out.
