You can buy nearly anything you want from a vending machine in Japan. Mainly in the food, drink and gadget area, but in the more liberal areas of Tokyo at night some of the items are more daring.

To import a classic it has to be 25 years old .The import duty is 20% of market value.
The ARF payable for a classic car with an OMV of S$75,000 will be calculated as follows:

Vehicle OMV
(S$75,000) ARF Rate ARF Payable
First S$20,000 100% 100% x S$20,000 = S$20,000
Next S$30,000 140% 140% x S$30,000 = S$42,000
Above S$50,000 180% 180% x S$25,000 = S$45,000
Total ARF payable is (S$20,000 + S$42,000 + S$45,000) = S$107,000
So the total cost of a 75k singapore dollars will be 207k including car price which is 115 k pounds !
Also the restriction you can only use it 45 days a year !

Only 45 days a year - thats one I did not know, that hurts given how much they tax you for it. A lovely place to visit and crazy place to live is what my friend calls Singapore. He worked there for 2 years and it eroded his love somewhat.
