I looked at one but having an Aero I thought I might get told off.

I ended up buying a BMW motorbike jacket as this has enclosed zips and is a very soft nubuck leather so cannot rub or damage as I lean on anything to try and wedge my ever bigger frame out of the S2.

It is slightly slimmer than the full fat leather jackets and still surprisingly supple.

As long as it is leather I will wear it ! My wife tells me I am the least fashionable man around I am therefore looking for an unfashionable badge to wear with pride and of course a baseball cap!

+1 for flying jackets , a must for the period look ex Spitfire/Stringbag pilot effect !

I have two Irvin's, both original WW2 models. They still have the heated glove wiring in the sleeves and the radio plugs dangling at my side.

My favourite has a fantastic back story:

Originally worn by a Spitfire pilot who survived the war, he became a commercial airline pilot and his old jacket was relegated to the loft.

In the early 60's the pilot, now clearly part of the professional classes, took pity on a chap delivering coal to his house in the mid-winter with a skimpy coat. He handed on the still decent jacket and the coalman wore it for several years before returning it with thanks.

I have been the custodian for years and have had a great deal of pleasure sharing its history while keeping it in good fettle.

I love October mornings and dragging it on again.

I looked at getting a flying jacket but the daft prices asked put me off. I got a Spada bike jacket just like the one offered by Morgan but under half the price plus a Morgan wing badge off Ebay.

On cold days nothing is better for open top driving than a sheepskin flying jacket. (The seats in my car are not heated). The big collar is a good wind breaker. My Irvin jacket is now 29 years old and still usable.

Ditto I'd love one but apart from the cost, my stomach would also be a stumbling block, although if I did get one it would have to be original well worn WW11 . Maybe I could get Harry to wear it, or perhaps get a pair of longer legs..

Absolutely essential wear for the Morgan except on that one day of the year when the sun shines.
We never use the side screens even in rain so it is very comforting to know that sheep still wear them.
We bought ours from BHM and they were embossed as Morgan coats which actually means fewer buckles and belts.
I periodically give them a going over with Dubbin to keep them supple and water proof ( sort of ) but then I admit to being weird!!

My leather summer jacket is now about 35 years old, it is perfect for the Morgan.
For colder weather I must admit to wearing modern "technical" fabrics, but the lightweight Irvin Sheepskin is terribly attractive. But at £620 it isn't exactly cheap..

Definitely de rigeur especially in the winter months, can't beat a nice Irvin, I'm on my second the first having lasted about twenty years, the "new" one is about four or five years old and just starting to become pliable to my ahem sylph like self.
