Hi, I came across an article suggesting I would need a certificate to show my emissions, to drive in some cities in France i.e. Paris . Is any body else aware of this & is it correct ?

They are required in certain French cities including Paris, Grenoble and Lyon

I'll just add that you're not allowed to drive a pre-1997 car in the centre of Paris on weekdays except in the evenings. There are exceptions (including cars registered as collectors cars), Tho' I'm not sure how that works for foreign registered vehicles.

It was even stressed that old-timers will be charged if they drive in the environmental zone of Lyon or Grenoble in case of a pollution peak. This is particularly problematic, since highways driving to the south of France cross through the zone of Grenoble."

When touring I always budget a couple of hundred quid for speeding fines and stuff like this. I'm ahead in recent years so I must be getting old.

The last time I passed through Lyon on the A26 or whatever it was, it was chockablock with lines of traffic. I can't see much hope for the Gendarmerie working their way through that lot just for an emissions fine..!
