As has been mentioned, there are plenty of checks and balances in the US to rein in the worst excesses of Agent Orange. Just look at how the courts have refused to be steamrollered over his anti-muslim travel ban. In such a legalistic country, it's highly unlikely that the President can get away with behaving in an unconstitutional manner for very long.

From a defence/security point of view, as I've said previously I have the highest regard for the National Security Advisor, General HR McMaster.

I cannot express how relieved I am. Marine le Pen would have been a total and utter disaster on every level. Macron is a good guy. I hope he manages to get the support he needs in the Assemblée Nationale to get the reforms France needs done.

As it happens, the En Marche candidate for the constituency where we are has been a customer of my pub for 20 years, and is an excellent individual. For her whole career she has been working in the aeronautics industry. (I gather it is not untypical that en marche candidates have no previous political career).

The incumbent (a french conservative) who has been the MP for the last 20 years has never really had to make an effort, and as a result seems lazy and complacent.

A bonfire of the political hacks and a fresh intake of people who've had jobs jobs in the real world would seem to be a good thing.

I wish you guys would take your political discussions to the Soap Box forum, where it belongs, and keep it out the Three Wheeler forum.

I wouldn't beat yourself up about it ShaunD. My father was Army for 30 years, my wife is currently active duty, and many of my friends are. I've never seen any of them have a solemn day of reflection on memorial day. They've all done what my wife, her military friends and I did this weekend, grilled some meats, drank some beers and had a good time.
