The indicator stalk and mechanism on my 1974+8 has been knocked about quite a bit – often by me getting in and out of the car! – Does anybody have any idea of the origin of this unit, I'm assuming it was probably quite a common unit' borrowed' from some other car manufacturers parts bin
Thanks for the responses to my earlier post on stainless steel wheel nuts – that certainly seems to have set off some discussion, hopefully this one will be simpler!!

The illustration is for a 1997 onwards Morgan. The combined indicator / main beam head lamp flash / horn was, if my memory serves me well, is a Lucas item from a contempory Ford Transit.

If it's just an indicator stalk a picture would probably help of the original. The switch above was used on Dolomites from 1972-1981 according to Lucas's own online manual so I thought it a possible fit? http://elta.elcome.co.uk/ecat/index.asp may be of help to search possible donor vehicles

It could be off a old type mini, or british leyland cars of that period.
.+8 Now gone for a 1800 4/4. Duratec in bright yellow.

Afraid not; the switch used on the four speed Plus Eights was not, I'm fairly certain, shared with BMC/BL cars of the era. Transit and Cortina spring to mind.
One occasionally sees them at autojumbles but they are not as common as the Dolomite type.
The correct item has a round stalk rather than an angular one. If originality is not an issue then it's more than possible to adapt one to fit but getting the indicator cancelling sleeve to line up may be a tad of a challenge.
I have the correct one in stock (reserved for my +8 DHC project so not for sale) and I'm happy to post a photo is this helps.

If not the Lucas 119SB as above then the Lucas 119SA they were used on BMC and Ford

Unfortunately Mark, that's not the correct one either. Four speed Plus Eight combo switches had round not angular ends.
If originality doesn't matter, virtually anything can be cobbled together.

Probably the same as a '76 4/4. Was fited to a number of run of the mill cars of the time. I managed to get one from Terry Foxen at GEE Ltd. He usually spots the odd one when it comes up for sale and keeps one in stock. Recommend you add relays when you replace the switch as that should make it last a heck of a lot longer.
