Autoblog article, has the full text of the official announcement. Whilst it is no doubt good for VW and the future of their car designs, I for one would have loved to see Italdesign continue on its own fully independent of a car manufacturer.

Whilst they have produced some of the most iconic car designs over the years, from the Golf to the SVX, the Cala, which was a forerunner to the Gallardo; far too many to give credit to, but we must not forget a few duds - Morris Ital anyone (Remembered that one for you Boshers, me old mucker!).
Let's hope that despite the family's continuing 10% share, they do not end up just a badge on some Wolfsburg porridge in the same way that Ghia has done with Ford.
