Compensator Update!!! After quite a fiddle with inaccessible bellhousing bolts ( I didn't resort to drilling a hole through the footwell) I managed to extract the engine  The next issue was impossibly stubborn compensator fixing bolts (8 of them). I needed to buy a quality (Gedore) Allen Key socket set and a heat gun to release the M8 bolts that are secured with Loctite 243  On pulling the compensator apart I was faced with two completely disintegrated rubber barrels and two completely intact. I was rather surprised just how small the rubber barrels are..... The car was running well at Prescott, but for how much longer, I don't know.... I also need to replace the clutch. Its done 9000 miles. The friction plate looks around half worn, but the pressure plate appears to have got rather hot...

Nice work Austin. I have a copy of Phil Bleazey's detailed engine and transmission removal instructions for when the occasion arises but it is always handy to hear another persons experience as well.
Did you have any problems getting replacement rubber barrels and what sort of price are they? Considering that two of the barrels had disintegrated I am surprised it still managed the run at Prescott. Were the two good ones opposite each other? Was there more vibration than usual?
I hope you manage to confirm what the clutch components are from. Maybe there is a heavier duty version, or do we have the heaviest duty version already?

Compensator Update!!
Its all back together and worked fine at the MTWC Curborough Sprint on Sunday!!
I'll post more info and photos when I get chance - just not got the time at the moment as I'm now converting it back from Race Car To Road Car for its MOT on Thursday. The 18" wheels don't half take some effort to remove the wheel nuts when its been caned on the track......
All I would say is that it was quite a challenge to remove the engine and then strip down the compensator, but with a good engine crane, plenty of patience and investment in some quality tools, it is quite do-able for a home mechanic.
I raised the car up off the ground by placing a wheel ramp under each wheel, which gave adequate work space underneath and around the engine bay, without the risk of it falling off axle stands
