I would think it depends on whether you do your own servicing or not. If you pay someone else to look after your car, then a newer, less leggy car could well be very attractive.
If, on the other hand, you look after the car yourself then the advantage of familiarity and a deeper relationship with the car would count for more, I would think.
I am not particularly averse to the idea of buying another Morgan, but I find that every one I look at is quickly dismissed. Aeros and Roadsters have insufficient ground clearance to get up my drive, old +8s are too thirsty and unreliable, +4s and 4/4s lack power, and far too many of the cars for sale have daft light-coloured leather or inappropriate metallic paint. So each time I weigh up the disadvantages of my car - it's undeniably scruffy - and figure that it's not that big a deal after all.

From 10 metres or so, my car doesn't look too bad at all. But get closer, and it all starts looking a bit grim. After 31 years and 115,000 miles, the steel wings have loads of stone chips. Because the steel wings were fabricated from around half a dozen pieces, the factory covered them in filler. Over the years, the filler flexes and cracks, water gets in, and they start to rust. Years of exposure to the sun, rain and wind dulls and degrades the finish on the dash. On one occasion I had been working on the car and jumped in for a test drive, forgetting I had a screwdriver in the back pocket of my jeans, promptly punching a hole in the Ambla seat cover. The accumulation of patina is relentless, and one has to make a choice about whether one finds it distasteful or not. I rather like it. I've owned my Morgan for 17 years, I've done loads of work upgrading its performance, I know every inch of it inside and out, and I love it to bits despite the scars and wrinkles. It might not have quite the looks of a more recent car, but that's ok. I wouldn't dream of trading 'er indoors in for a younger model and I can't see any reason to treat my Morgan any differently.

Ha! I feel your angst..
Speaking as someone who did all the homework and trying for size before I bought my Morgan, it's just taken a Bank Holiday weekend to throw logic out of the window and fall in love with another one..!

Stewart, there are always bits to tinker with on a Morgan. If you are really running out, buy an old Land Rover (a real one not those Chelsea Tractor variants) you'll NEVER run out of things to tinker with then...
