That is what I have done and will continue to do so. However I am getting tired of taking the front suspension apart and putting it together again.

I am beginning to have doubts that "Hooke's Law" is appropriate for Morgan Front Suspension. Just a bit too "Counterintuitive" I think. Need to find a University Professor. Are there any on "Talk Morgan"?

Well I found a "Engineering Professor". I am wrong. Hooke's Law is appropriate for Morgan Suspension. Says He!!!!!!

OK: I took a test run with the Mulfab setup and new uncut rebound springs. Well I liked it better than the cut rebound springs so far as the all around driveability of My +8 Bitsa. But so far as negotiating rough roads The Suplex Kit installed according to instructions win the Blue Ribbon. IMO!! So far as all around driveability I suspect Performance Drivers would not like it. I don't have a problem with the Suplex Kit (Other than price) for the kind of Road driving I do. I do drive somewhat aggressively, but for sure, not even close to performance driving.

Button. I am sure you are aware that a similar kit is available for race cars. There are two differences with the kit used for race cars (other than the dampers, that is). The race kit has a selection of springs so that it can be tuned to the driver's requirements and different track conditions. The lowest rate of the race kit selection of springs is higher than the standard road kit springs. The race kit also uses a set of 1mm hard nylon shims to set the the ride height. From the lowest ride height (with all the shims under the stub axle) the ride height can be raised in 1mm increments by moving the shims above the axle. It is important for the functioning of the small rate riser spring that the total of shims, or spacers, adds up to 20mm. I currently have 10mm under and 10mm over the stub axle thereby lowering the front end by 10mm but I have changed the tyres to a tyre that is 10mm higher, in this way I have kept the same ride height.

Anyway, after all this, my feeling is that with the combination of the heavier engine of the Plus 8 and your driving style you may find that you would gain sharper steering and less body roll in cornering with upper front springs that are a higher rate. Perhaps the lowest rate springs from the race kit. I don't know what a set of springs would cost but I don't believe that they would be expensive. You would loose a fraction of the comfort but to go up only one grade is not really noticeable as I have found going up a little with the rear springs of my Plus 4.

There is a 120 in/lb Blue Eibach spring that was used by Morgan (and still may be in use). I have two sets of these blue springs. They have +8 printed on them. I bought them from a U.S. Dealer who replaced them for black springs because the Owner's did not like them. I have used these springs on My +8 Bitsa. These springs were designed for the bronze pad and damper blades. I have long since removed the damper blades. I have a set of needle thrust bearings that allow Me to mount the blue springs. This in My opinion is much more cost effective solution, at least for a +8. As You can tell COST is in My equation.

BTW: Andy Garlic has written that He likes the Suplex Kit on His +8. Andy has much more Morgan experience than I do. I must respect His observations.

As I said I would do several weeks ago is to use the Mulberry setup on My +8 Bitsa and install the Suplex Kit on My ZETEC engine 1961 DHC. This is the Morgan I liked the best with the SUPLEX Kit when I originally tested it. My DHC has not been running for a couple of years, as I have been working on the +8 Bitsa and +4-4Str. I have also purchased a "NODIZ" Ignition only as I am running Weber DCOE. Hopefully I will receive a TPS from Belgium and be ready for the "Father's Day Run" in Victoria and on the West Side of Vancouver Island. I am getting good at R&R ing the Suplex. I have one side installed, tomorrow I will get the other side done and adjusted. I may not be too bright but I am certainly tenacious.

Drove My DHC with the Suplex Kit (sans Dampers-I have an issue with the Dampers that I have not resolved yet) City streets and low speeds, but I liked the ride. No judders, Did a bit of "Nodding Dog", but then No Dampers. More as I learn more.

Just a follow up - we have now done another 300 or so miles afterPeter Ballard reset our front SSL (Suplex). I really do think that our Mog Susp. has undergone subtle improvements in handling and the overall driving experience has improved all round. Personally I have now,no hesitation at all in recommending SSL. it has for me made the Mog so much more enjoyable
