Just called into the factory in Telford to pick up my set of Minilites for my Roadster.
What a great place! Made me very welcome and gave me a tour of the factory. A large number of orders stacked up ready to go off as far afield as Australia and quite surprised at the classic Alfa wheels and Campag wheels that they were making in addition to the Minilites. It's great to see a business established many years ago still doing well!

Just need to sort out my tyres...still haven't decided.

I'm about to change tyres and I'm leaning towards Avon ZV7'S.
I would go for Toyo Proxes but they are unidirectional and so not suitable for the spare.
I might consider Yokohamas.

Have they moved Jay , I always thought they were in the Bridgewater area of Somerset when Tech-Del (?) were the parent company. Mind you in those days they were Magnesium alloy (not easy stuff to cast or machine , but very light) I guess they are now plain aluminium alloy?

I must admit I have been sorely tempted myself to invest in a set of 16 inch Minilites in order to be able to use the Toyo Proxes 205/55 x 16 tyres that everyone raves about.

Have you asked for them in body colour , I think that can look very smart.

Interesting point, Dave. I avoid unidirectional tyres for the same reason. What is the legal position if one has to use such a spare rotating in the 'wrong' direction?

Well, I suppose it will only matter if you have an accident, and then it could get complicated.

The inner side of my Plus 8 alloys are showing signs of age. A refurb will be needed in the nearish future. I like minilites. Maybe an alternative if available? Tempting.
I had directional tyres on a tintop a while ago. The spare issue is a real PIA. I used it once and couldn't wait to get the punctured tyre replaced. A lack of confidence in the tread coping with grip, especially in the wet.

You could always have directional on the road wheels and a different uni directional spare???

They moved several years ago to Telford and yes, originally Tech-Del......they still may be! They still make comp wheels to special order in magnesium. Mine are in aluminium alloy though!

I've had them in body colour....black. Mean and moody 🤓
