When riding with my wife's M3W I found that steering was much more heavy as with mine. Jacked up both vehicles and there was an enormous difference. Found out that three of the four king pins where almost frozen in their housing. What the reason was for this I really don't know. When I ordered new ones my dealer told me that MMC only delivers the king pins including new arms ?! I only installed the new king pins so anyone interested in new arms ? This new king pins improved the steering in a huge amount.

They are a very standard ball joint. I'm offshore at the moment so can't get the part number just now. Should be just a few pounds/dollars/francs each.

How many miles?
Have to say, I've had many bad ball joints over the years, and all that I have seen get loose and sloppy as they wear. Don't recall any that ever mad it harder to steer - odd.

Trust me, back in the 80`s i had a mk3 ford cortina. Ball joints were replaced very often. Especially when the steering got very stiff.

The new "arms" as you refer to them will cure bump steer in older cars as the arms are about three inches higher then the originals. The arms position the track rods at the same height as the comfort kit.

See also the steering rack is not oxidized, remove the rubber bellows to check.
