Hey all

I just put down a deposit for a M3W and am super excited. Have a little bit of time to check the boxes on various options so I thought I would reach out to those who have real world experience with some of these.

Of particular note, if taller windscreen is helpful/necessary, if the brook lands steering wheel is usable or just really, really pretty over a motolita after the fact. Anyone got the new dash? I heard someone say builds were delayed because of it. I have warmed to the original dash and it does give me room to install a couple of additional temperature gauges, but the new one looks nice in pictures.

Anyone done the photographical build records?

Here's the options I'm considering beyond mentioned above:
cowl painted
quilted leather
mohair tonneau
heated seats
rear mudguard
luggage rack
vintage bonnet catches
2 eared spinners

Thanks everyone!

Hi Blake,

That looks like a nice spec.

Personally I prefer the traditioanl dash but the new one does have the benefit of a (small) cubby hole.

I have a MotoLita wheele which I love and a benefit for me (being on the large side) is it's 13" ratehr than the 14" of the standard and Brooklands wheels. This gives a bit more room for my legs.

I'm happy with the standard aeroscreens but do wear a helmet most of the time. the larger screen does give more wind protection but you can always retrofit the Fairbourn screen later so it's not a once and for all decison whenter to have the tall screen from day 1.

I would strongly recommend a freer flowing exhaust - Morgan's own AR Stage 1, Garage 56 or possibly Krazy Horse. It trandforms the engine and keeps the exhaust temps down considerably.

Do you have a build date yet?

Thanks for your feedback. I think I'll stick with the standard windscreens both to save money and see if I need an alternative. Don't love the look of the full windscreen anyways.

When I've done test drives I felt a spacer for the steering wheel does help.

Anyone have feedback of simply gutting the catalytic converter vs. upgrading with the stage 1's? I'm in the US (Los Angeles) so getting an aftermarket kit might be prohibitively expensive and I don't believe Morgan is offering it as an option on new builds anymore. An alternative could be to have a local shop fit something. There is a lot of automotive talent in Southern California and it looks to be a pretty simply thing really.

I have a 1" steering wheel space and it makes it possible to pull my (left) foot off the clutch and lay it on the floor. Without it the car was a bit uncomfortable to drive.

Re the exhausts - there's plenty of threads on here about removing baffles. cats and alternative exhausrs such as magnaflow.

Hi Blake, where are you from?

Who is your dealer?

If you live in a hot climate you won`t need the heated seats.

Quilted leather looks nice, but gives slightly less cushioning because of the quilt.

The heritage aero screen gives better comfort, less buffeting and rain ingress.

The white Brooklands steering wheel comes with splined adapter.
Have a word with your dealer, different sizes are available but not from Morgan.
When you get time PM me for more info.

There is more than one luggage rack. rack .
This one is £245+vat from Rutter.net
This one is a home fit.
The Morgan rack is being re-designed.

Depending on your height, consider the tall padded roll hoops.

There has been lots of talk about faults, most, if not all should be sorted by the time you get yours. Don`t pay too much attention to them at the moment.
The only consideration is the clutch, treat it with respect.
Its a long job to replace.

There are other upgrades to consider; stage 1 engine. A big plus for better engine management, if you find leg room a problem then Morganpark.DE make a thinner gearbox cover cover
They are German but speak English. Emails get answered too. When i emailed them in March last year it was 1700 Euros.

Choice of tyres. Use the standard tyres for running in and training purposes.
You can source replacement tyres online. Some at very competitive prices.

Thats all i can think of right now.
Best of luck.
John.

Thanks so much for this - was not aware of the outfit in Germany that offered alternative trimming for instance! On the two test drives I went on I didn't have much issue fitting, surprisingly, though I may well have been having so much fun that I was distracted from being uncomfortable. I am 6'2" or 188 cm, with a long torso. Good point about the quilted leather being less padded, wouldn't have thought of that. Will have to think about that one.

I am located in Los Angeles California and am purchasing the vehicle from the local dealer here Morgan West in Santa Monica.

Any info on why Morgan is redesigning the luggage rack? I suppose I could always wait and fit it later.

Norb bries, can`t go wrong there.
If your interested, he makes a slimmer gearbox cover as well. I think he was charging $1500 for it.

Previous luggage racks had a fault with corrosion, thats why most are now powder coated black.
Also drilling stainless steel is a pain, no dealer likes doing it.
Yes i agree, having too much fun on test drive.

As i said earlier, Brooklands steering wheel
If no high-lighted panels appear in your browser, try a different one.

Also with earlier cars, the s&s rectifier packed up and fried the battery. Get your dealer to swap it out for the Harley unit, $70 well spent. Most will say moving the position of this unit has stopped this problem.

California, nice, hot in the summer. Consider the stage one kit or a custom made exhaust. Can you weld?
Todd Kindler made his own. Check out this post magna flow.

Great info, thanks again. I think Norb is the dealer in Chicago, I'm going through Dennis here in LA for the purchase.

You would recommend the brooklands from that source over the factory?

Love my narrow console. I am only 5'8" and 165 but love the space.
