But wing is off for a re-spray, so I've decided to remove them all for a re-spray as Georgie the car is a Y reg. so there is quite a bit of cosmetic paint work that needs attention, especially around the wing beadings.

So at this point I've also decided "what the heck" I can change the colour, or colours as I'm a fan of the two tone colour schemes, started searching colours and saw a post by Peter J (Aldermog) on his 'Zurallic Blue' Roadster, having looked deeper into BMW's colours I've decided on the BMW Pearlescent 'Azurite Black' which is actually a very dark blue for the wings which I hope will compliment the original BMW 'Avus Blue' of the main body work.

First things first, I need to replace some of the chip protection under the front wings, can anybody suggest a suitable material?

Excuse the pun, but that's a cracking idea..! That colour combo should work very well.

I'm afraid I have no ideas about removing the chip protection, but I'd be inclined to ask your sprayer for their advice as it's them that will have to work with it.

DW has posted extensively on fitting inner wing protection, based on neoprene sheet.

Superform ali is pretty hard stuff, i dont have the spec sheet but with a good coat, of waxoyl black underseal mine seems to have survived even newly laid chippings.
One thing, if you remove the front wings check the flat panel at the rear of the wing, im not sure how morgan afix this to the main wing pressing but its seperate part on my 2011 car. Its seemed to be glued in place , certainly not ali welded. As i tightened the 2 rear bolts that secure the back wing to the front wing, just in front of the rear wheels, this small closure panel began to come away from the main wing pressing. Needless to say plastiç metal saved the day. Beware dont horse those 2 bolts hp too tight.

That's a good place for a neoprene pad, because it gets blasted with grit. Especially if there's no exhaust. It can be fixed in place with a couple of penny washers and extra nuts over the existing fasteners without disturbing them.

Interesting fact: the fasteners on my Roadster are a different size each side........
