Just thought i'd put a little post up as might be helpful to some members. As some might remember my last black 4/4 I decided to fit the black JW speaker lights from my land rover days left over. I thought about them again for this car, although decided they wouldn't suit it very well. So this time ive gone with a set of chrome Noldens. first impressions are very good, a great improvement on the originals, not sure there as bright as the speakers but more than make up for it in the looks department which is certainly less decisive! Anyway heres a couple of pics to show them fitted;

After looking into powerful uk headlights website and speaking to john v6 as he has fitted some I found out that bmw wiring will through up a warning light saying bulb blown due to wiring not accepting led headlights and wiring having to be changed and software needs to be re written on ecu ! Peter G has had everything changed on his plus 8 to allow fitting of the factory led headlights .
Geneva 2016 plus 8' The Green Godess' 4 side exits .

After looking into powerful uk headlights website and speaking to john v6 as he has fitted some I found out that bmw wiring will through up a warning light saying bulb blown due to wiring not accepting led headlights and wiring having to be changed and software needs to be re written on ecu ! Peter G has had everything changed on his plus 8 to allow fitting of the factory led headlights . Indeed, the BMW wiring detects blown bulbs. I have LED sidelights and fitting a 5W load resistor keeps the "BMW Brain" happy. I test fitted the LED Headlights at Williams and there is sufficient load from the main and dip beam units to keep the "BMW Brain" Happy. These are the LOAD RESISTORS I used...., just £9.99 from Halfords.

I was hoping to fit full LED headlights but after reading Peter G's comprehensive changes that need to be made I thought otherwise !

I think like Peter says for the traditional's the load must be enough as both the speaker and Nolden lights have been plug and play with no bulb failure lights coming up.

Normal trads don't check for blown bulbs via canbus.
Nice to see them fitted I am interested in a set even more so now, as I do a fair bit of driving in the dark.

Solution? Keep the old side lamp bulb and leave it in the bowl behind the light unit, Simples!
