The Plus 8 and I expect most S4 Aero based cars have a Bulb Failure Warning system built into the can-bus. I discovered how it works yesterday when the N/S brake light filament failed. 1. The warning message takes over the little LCD Display in the Speedometer...and it cannot be cancelled!! It only goes away when the bulb is replaced. 2. The car uses the indicator on the same side as an auxiliary stop light: something no one had mentioned.. 3. I didn't have a replacement bulb with me. Tools, indicator bulb and headlight bulb, but no Stop/Side! So, carry a set of spare bulbs... including number plate warning bulbs, which are an odd small size, and a N0 2 cross head screwdriver!!

At least changing lamps on Mogs is easy unlike modern cars which can some times give the Krypton factor a run for its money!

At least changing lamps on Mogs is easy unlike modern cars which can some times give the Krypton factor a run for its money! Absolutely! On the AMG all the bulbs are LED and there are no user changeable bulbs. Dealer only.....

You can flip the filament bulbs in the car to LED (with ballast) for stop/side etc. They are direct replacement bulbs. They also offer increased brightness which is good for such a small surface area.
Just drop into a Halfords and they have them in stock and will swap them free. If you trust a minkey with spanner on your P&J. I had the same on the MB with a tail light as mine is older and still uses iron grade bits. I just drove into the retail park nearby and they swapped them on the spot and were very efficient and careful. I was impressed.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

I always use Halford's free bulb swapping service when changing head & sidelight bulbs on my Saab.
In spite of being almost the length of an S Class Merc, there is no space for a hand & bulb. None, nada, niente.
The last sidelight bulb took over 10 minutes each to squeeze in... I fitted a pair of LEDs so that I (& Halfords) won't have to go through that again.
The Aero 8? Rear lights are LED & the handbook advises a dealer-only job, should they ever fail. The front end looks like a trip the the dealer too.

My wife's Renault modus is a undertray and bumper off Jobbie £75 at the dealer to change a headlight bulb! Last time I did it myself and was speaking to my friend about the 1-1/2 hours it took and he said "you did change both bulbs while you were at it?"......DOH! Sure enough, within a month the other failed!

I was forgetting that the Plus 8 has the lighting setup of a Trad, but with bulb failure monitoring.
I've thought about "going LED" but at £16.50 each for Can-Bus compatible brake/side lights and indicators that is £99 for the 6 bulbs....a bit costly.

I've had a couple of phantom bulb failure warnings. The message does eventually disappear with repeated pressing of the button at the end of the left hand stalk... at least they have in my case.

1. The warning message takes over the little LCD Display in the Speedometer...and it cannot be cancelled!! It only goes away when the bulb is replaced. I remember that when it happened to me, it was disappearing keeping pressed for long the BC button on the lever. In my case it was happening sometimes after having washed the car. Obviously there was no bulb failure.

I find the side (wing) indicator bulbs fail regularly - but don't trigger the bulb failure warning message. Or they didn't in my case.
I'm now wondering whether my "bulb failure warning" has actually failed.
