We are writing this thread for a Morgan colleague and good friend. He has been waiting some time for his new morgan 4 wheelr to be built and has now recieved the car. The car has exhibited electrical problems such as the horn sounding erratically and headlights and indicators having a mind of there own. He has sent recorded letters to the dealer in Little Halingbury and to the Morgan motor company and niether have had the decency to reply. This gentleman parted with £90K for a non road worthy 2017 Morgan and he is treated like this. Poor show Morgan Motor company very poor show. It is this attitude that will kill the reputation of our cars. It is the response from a company who is out of touch and a feature of a company on the brink of failure? (we have since been made aware from other folk that the PCB's are of poor quality and are £500 each!) comments please

Unless you have first hand account of the dealings, I'm afraid won't be drawn into commenting on what is, in effect, hearsay, Rob.
This is a public forum & one should be careful as people pick up on this & exaggerate.
I know that's not what you're after, but it's not your argument is it..?
I would advise your friend to take up the cudgels directly and speak personally to both to resolve the issues.
Not everything the company makes is rubbish or we'd all be on the complaining bandwagon..!!
I'm sure it'll all get sorted soon enough.
Steve

I wouldn't use a letter as a primary method of communication, my preferred option is face to face, but if distance precludes that, I would telephone the dealer initially, as a step 1.

Go Trading Standards/ Dealer/ Factory all copied in by Recorded Delivery.
Your friend has already tried the polite approach it's time to seek legal advice now.
Goods not fit for purpose.
I wish him all the luck in the world and hope he gets a response soon, the problem with these situations is that if handled badly by the company/supplier they instantly remove any pleasure from the situation. Lets face it that's the only reason we buy them.

Rob, had your friend spoken to the dealer prior to writing his letters ?
What time-frame are we talking about ?
Obviously every company will have problems with it's product at some time.
It's how they're dealt with that's the measure of a company.

I bought my car (new) in 2013, and have had 2 problems.
Cracks around the headlight and the superform wings (known issue) and a failure of the catalytic convertor.
Whilst this is disappointing on a new car, the response and remedial action to both issues from the factory was excellent.
Having had issues with cars from other manufactures in the past, my experience is that Morgan responded in a much better way than I experienced elsewhere.

I'm not sure anyone can add any value by way of comments. Sympathy to the owner if he has problems but such a post is only going to draw moans and groans from every direction. Only the owner knows the facts and it is up to him/her to take it up firstly via the dealer, they represent the manufacturer and I'd do it face to face before sending letters. For all we know it could be a five minute fix. I have no axe to grind, I don't even own a Morgan anymore and the one I had was excellent, I couldn't fault the quality. I appreciate you are doing it to help a pal Rob but agree with Steve that this isn't the way to do it.

He bought his car through a dealer. He should approach them not the factory, to get the issues sorted. If the factory is involved it should be via the dealer. This is just common practice in the motor industry.
