Should I ?

Buy this bike?

I rode it today.
It is everything I wanted my 2004 Thruxton to be but it never was...
Looks like a Thruxton should, especially the tank. I love the fake Amal carbs.
Not so obvious are the alloy wheel rims and alloy swing arm.

The bike has modern electronics, including the traction control, ABS and three traction/stability modes, rain, street and track.

Then the modern components...

USD Showa ?
Ohlins piggy-back rear shocks?
Brembo front discs and pads?

All a bit too modern? I don't think so....and they transform the bike. The ride is supple, it corners and turns in more like a sports bike...

Anyway after 5 years away from bikes it was an absolute delight to be back on 2 wheels. I've not had so much fun for a while. I love Tarka, but it is still a car....

I stopped riding in 2013 because of neck/back problems: these seem to be resolved. So, I'm very, very tempted to return to biking.

Advice please!

What's the worse that can happen?

You just ride when u feel like it and enjoy the experience.

Enjoy!

Triumph showcased this bike on their stand at the Silverstone Classic last year.

I made the silly mistake of sitting on it ...fantastic.

But my biking days are over.

Saturday is decision day.

Good thing you didn't ride it or you might have had second thoughts about not riding.

To be honest I'm returning to riding as much because of where I live: relatively empty, bike friendly roads with little or no chance of meeting a camera van, or Police man.... evil

Loved my 2009 Thruxton model, but my 2009 1200 motoguzzi sport is more fun evil

Go for it, its a very nice bike. I would buy the Triumph with the track racer kit, the looks with the café racer fairing is awesome:

Bl**dy Hell.... now I'm thinking about bikes again! I would certainly get one bought Peter... you would only regret it in 10-15 years time if you didn't!

I have test rode this bike at the end of last year and liked it. But I do prefer the 800cc Tiger triple over it for comfort. If I didn't buy the +8 the Tiger would be in my stable.

How about one of these Peter? Much less practical but lighter and would be heaps of fun on the twisties.
