Don't forget Windsor guys which is usually a must on the American tourist trail ( Eton is also worth a visit for the famous Eton College).

If you know you are coming in advance we can organise something...

An earlier post mentioned Brideshead Revisited and Castle Howard. The family and house that inspired Waugh are actually located just outside Malvern. Madresfield Court was home to Earl Beauchamp and his kin. It is not open to the public, but I have been in. The chapel is exactly as described in the book (Lady Beauchamp was Catholic) and there's a family portrait that includes a figure just like Sebastian in the TV dramatization. The house is very different--much smaller, red brick, moated ...

Just a thought but if you are going anywhere near Donnington in Leicestershire for car related events you my wish to consider the"1620's Manor House" for a coffee, lunch or tea stop. Situated in Donnington Le Heath it's a Manor House built in 1290 but presented and furnished as it would have been in 1620 a little before the English civil war. Unlike most other places you are encouraged to sit on the furniture and beds, handle the artefacts and treat the place as yours (Thers also a big dressing up box if you want to really get in role). The Digby family which owned it were implicated in the gunpowder plot but that's the only historical event the house is associated with. It's really just a wonderful example of a wealthy ish landowners property. No Big and pretentious but an example of life back then. The gardens are superb and in period with nothing which would not be there in the 17th century. There is a great cafe serving wonderful hot and cold drinks and meals and exceptional home made cakes. Well worth a visit if enroute and looking for a convenient stop. You can see it all easily in ninety minutes.

If you see a red 4/4 in the car park it's mine. I work as a house interpreter ( sounds posh don't you think?) Hapy to give you the Royal tour.

Andy

Goodwood revival is brilliant, dress the part and enjoy. We've been twice. Expensive but worth it

Because of the limitations of coming across the pond I may just pack my white coveralls and my blue polka dot Tim Birkin scarf

It's all a matter of timing....if you want the main TT event you will have to stay over here for some time if you want to do the Revival! The Festival of Speed will be closer to the TT.

The Manx Grand Prix can be close to the Revival. Accommodation will already be gone for next year's TT.
