Should I ?

Buy this bike?

I rode it today.
It is everything I wanted my 2004 Thruxton to be but it never was...
Looks like a Thruxton should, especially the tank. I love the fake Amal carbs.
Not so obvious are the alloy wheel rims and alloy swing arm.

The bike has modern electronics, including the traction control, ABS and three traction/stability modes, rain, street and track.

Then the modern components...

USD Showa ?
Ohlins piggy-back rear shocks?
Brembo front discs and pads?

All a bit too modern? I don't think so....and they transform the bike. The ride is supple, it corners and turns in more like a sports bike...

Anyway after 5 years away from bikes it was an absolute delight to be back on 2 wheels. I've not had so much fun for a while. I love Tarka, but it is still a car....

I stopped riding in 2013 because of neck/back problems: these seem to be resolved. So, I'm very, very tempted to return to biking.

Advice please!

Peter,

Wishing you the very best with whatever decision you make. If you don't go for that, another will surface and the dilemma re-sets to zero and off you go again. Meanwhile, the summer is burning away and you could be out there living that particular dream. Sometimes your heart knows better than your head. Rare of course, but sometimes you need to just close your eyes and step forward.

If it was easy everyone would be doing it.

Enjoy.

What impressed me most about the bike, other than she looks a million $$ is that she has roadholding and grip capability far in excess of my ability.
Backed up by ride by wire engine management modes, stability, traction and ABS you have to try quite hard to end up in a mess.

So, a bike to enjoy, quite quickly.

A bit like a 2 wheeled Plus 8, looks the part but underneath a lot of modern technology.

I asked "should I and I did; HF16 MRO is now in the garage!

This is a Morgan Forum, so I'll shut up about it now. All that needs to be said is "THANKS" for all the support and positive direction.
