Having been retired since April after being made redundant at 63.5 I am slowly starting to accept it. I know I will need to keep myself active mentally, but at the moment I am organising my self funded pension and catching up on a lot of jobs around the house that I didn't have time to do previously. : still works 5 days a fortnight but we will eventually buy a caravan (this means selling one of the mogs) and take some time to really see this great country of Australia that we live in. There will be plenty of time for volunteer work and watch my grandies grow up. I think I have enough red wine stockpiled to grow old gracefully and I am sure my wife of 42 years will keep me on the straight and narrow with her to do list

This is all really interesting.
I sold my business and retired a year ago - well almost a year.
At first I did find it tough not to be in business or running the business.
Of course I did all the odd jobs which needed catching up on etc but you soon run out of those - well I did!
I am still writing my memoirs and family history, I have read a lot more, holidayed and relaxed.
But it has taken this time to accept that I no longer have to work - or need to.And to not feel guilty for not working.
Also to arrive at the blissful point of self awareness that I still want to achieve lots of things - but without any pressure or tight deadlines to meet. Manyana (is that right?)has entered my vocab!

most used word in our house. A Spaniard once asked an Irishman "Do you have a word that means the same as 'Mañana'?" "Kind of", the Irishman replied "But nothing with the same sense of urgency".
